I've been going straight into an old solid state amp, sounds fine

Obviously you will get the most from this bass with a nice amp, a compressor, etc, and maybe swapping out for pickups that fit your ear

It is still a good bass to check out, with a slightly slimmer neck (depth wise) and wider string spacing, but I find that the tone cannot be shaped as well as with the ESP
