Unless a firmware update can fix the issues I've described

Since it lights up and responds appropriately, up to a point, either a component has failed or a firmware update has introduced an incompatibility

After contacting the company they sent me a new device and they have upgraded the old ones and everything works as it should

The only minor quibble I have is that the microphone didn't seem as good as in the echo dot
