The old method of cleaning those bits by using a stiff paper to trigger a momentary run

A great paper shredder.

It eats paper like a hungry alligator.

I can empty this thing in less than 30 seconds without having to worry about chasing down a mess of stray paper pieces that fall out when emptying into another container.

The paperwork and the online information say you can simply use reverse, that is not true when it decides it is jammed with 10 pieces of paper ( and you'll recall it says it can accommodate 11 pieces of paper )you have to actually unplug it and try to work the paper back out

because of nasty dumping, it took out our brand new vacuum cleaner, requiring it to be serviced, because the shredded paper is too easily clogged in vacuums.

You can use a commercial shredder lube product or simply take a sheet of clean paper, thoroughly spray it with a silicone lube, let the carrier fluid evaporate, and then run through the shredder

Shredded paper is quite easy to compress, but since the bucket on the unit is so short (roughly 14 inches from the bottom of the shredder disks), the paper fills to the top quickly makeing it necessary to empty the bucket often.

I had to manually pluck the paper from under the sensor to free it and get the shredder working again.

It gets jammed now and again, mainly from overstuffing it...definitely stay within the 11-sheet limit, and take into account the weight of the paper as well...thicker paper means less sheets at once

Be careful NOT to put sticky paper in there, i.e. Amazon tags that you pull off of your boxes.

It took me a few days but I shredded enough paper to fill a 55 gallon trash bag and a tall kitchen garbage bag

I forgot to pay attention to look at how long I should use before break... so after ~ 15 minutes of continuous shredding, my shredder went straight to the e-waste stack right after
