The filter helps kill seemingly ubiquitous 60 cycle hum (and the classic rock FM station interference my Fender Rhodes piano likes to pick up and amplify), and is especially helpful when playing club gigs in bars with flashing neon signs, dirty power, etc.

Glorified power strip, looks great nice long cord, does nothing for 60 cycle hum or dirty power, if you want a cooler looking power strip with a long cord here you go.
