These are good, reliable hard drives in my experience.

so I would absolutely *not* recommend this drive if your data is important to you.

I just plug the USB 3.0 into my MacBook Air Laptop, the drive appears, and I drag & drop my photo files over to it.

I've had USB 2 drives transfer a lot of data before, now I have a really fast hard drive that is very convenient.

The hard drive comes pre-formatted right out of the box for Mac's.

Of the three cables included with the hard drive, only the USB cable would stay plugged into the computer

Their other models may work fine but this is not a reliable drive due to USB port issues

I bought two of these as they look great and feel quite robust, but from my experience aren't that good if you're using them on a daily basis with repeated plug and unplugs - they worked great at first, but the SATA card (that's the component that links the hard drive to the power/data transfer port that your USB lead plugs into) is very poor quality and failed after just over a year

This mobile G drive is nifty, backs up beautifully and interfaces with the G Drive External Hard Drive as well

Great drive for a great price

I bought this hard drive to store the files from my old windows laptop and continue using it with my new MacBook Pro (which has only 124GB)

Its a MUST have for anyone that wants to clear up hard drive space on their devices and anyone who wants to keep their special documents or pictures safe

so I've snapped open the case to take the actual inner hard drive out and ordered a new housing for it and absolutely *praying* that I can recover my data

Even worst of all, on my last call they claimed they do not have any replacement drive in stock, therefore, you have to send the drive, pay shipment and wait indefinitely until they get a refurbished (and probably defective) drive back to you!On the other hand, when we had a problem with a LaCie drive, we received the new unit within 48 hours, they provided a shipment label and 30 days time to return the defective drive to ensure we had time to recover and transfer all the data

It doesn't get overheated, the USB connection between the hard drive and my computer is solid (I have a Macbook Air), and the Time Machine sync is flawless

They do not inform you up front that you have to send the defective drive in order to get a replacement, thus they keep you wondering for a few weeks until you decide to call to see what is going on with the shipment.2
