Garmin Alpha 100 GPS Track and Train Handheld

    • The system works for me, except it freezes a few times each day when I press the buttons.
    • They will have to really exert themselves if they are to improve this system further
    • I found the system to be very intuitive, easy to set up and use.
    • This system gives me peace of mind, so if she ever spooks again for any reason, I can find her
    • Awesome system at a great price.
    • The system works for me, except it freezes a few times each day when I press the buttons.
    • Update Oct 16 - system continues to work well without any problems.
    • The increased advertised range of the Alpha (9 vs 7 miles) reflects a more robust transmitter/antenna/receiver system that makes contact with the dogs noticeably more reliable and quicker to re-acquire when the dogs dip over the adjacent ridge
    • We hunt on horseback in very rough country and the Alpha 100 system is so easy to use that I can follow the hounds at a trot while using the Garmin to track them.
    • This is an expensive purchase, and one would hope that the system will not be defeated by such cheap parts.
    • I hope Garmin develops an improved charging system ... that is compatible with the existing collars.
    • Otherwise the system worked well, tracked the dog well, and the shock function was adequate, although not as much shock as my Dogtra unit, and occasionally my pointer would ignore it even at the highest setting.
    • This system is killer!
    • The Garmin Alpha GPS Track and Train System gives me confidence that I know where my dog is and I can control her.
    • The system is expensive, but seems more reasonable in the long run when you consider that there is no monthly service required for this to work
    • The tracking system works well ... maybe a little complicated given all of the options, so it's not a fast system to move around in ... but it clearly displays the locations of my two dogs
