I got in touch with the folks at Garmin, and they issued me a replacement refurbished device, since it was outside of their warranty period.

If not for this problem, it would be an easy five stars, as it is a basic, yet extremely useful device, suitable for all weather conditions.

but...once you learn how to use the device this device is amazing!for the price
