    • The lead is extremely strong and centered which makes for a nice sharpening even when using a subpar pencil sharpener.
    • 1 out of 12 was missing lead
    • Very nice pencil with a "hard" lead that doesn't dull immediately.
    • We tried their Gold pencils but the leads didn't appear to be centered as well and some of the erasers were falling off so had to look for an alternative.
    • excellent feel and smooth writing lead and they are made in the United States
    • The lead rarely chips or breaks, and the wood doesn't seem to split
    • ForestChoice did have a SLIGHTLY better eraser than GPC, however the quality of the lead was only a 2/5 (will NOT stay sharp)Palomino had equally good lead, however they also have a glossy unnatural feeling coating, and a terrible eraser
    • Strong center, good lead
    • The lead is soft, yet rarely breaks
    • They maintain a point without being scratchy when you write, and the lead is nice and dark for a #2/HB pencil
    • It's not available in any crazy lead hardnesses, and it's not the best, smoothest lead you'll ever find
    • The erasers work well and the lead doesn't break multiple times when sharpening.
    • The erasers work well and the lead doesn't break multiple times when sharpening.
    • The pencils have NOT had broken leads and seem to sharpen easily, without breaking in the little hand sharpener.
    • Well the lead on these pencils probably need sharpening less than half as long as a normal pencil.
    • The lead writes well and the eraser works very well and does not leave any smudges

    • These have the smoothest lead and are some of the nicest pencils I have had an opportunity to use
    • One pencil was missing an eraser, another didn't have any lead inside, and the third was poorly jointed together
    • the "lead" is always broken in 2 or 3 pieces inside the damn things.
    • the Palomino Forest Choice has great lead, but a light finish, a bad eraser, and is made in Thailand, and some Write Dude USA Gold pencils that I tried were just no good
    • The lead seems strong, the eraser works, that's about all I'm looking for
    • Dixon pencils had always been quality in my mind, but about 25% of these wouldn't even sharpen because the lead kept breaking as the sharpener sharpened them

    • First off, these are HB #2 pencils, so the lead is hard in comparison to softer lead pencils (like Palomino Blackwings, for example), but all the General pencils I've used thus far have been straight, center lead, ferrule firmly in place, and they sharpen well
    • They are pure cedar and lead graphite, no paints
    • The lead seems softer than my equivalent 2HB Ticonderoga
    • Well centered lead, writes well and darkly
    • Compared to Ticonderoga the lead writes a bit darker, smears a tad more and sharpens more smoothly - the eraser works about the same.
    • The lead is smoothly consistent and doesn't wear rapidly
