To get a great sound, the batter-side heads and cymbals should be replaced
I actually like the hi hat sound and have no problems with the heads
Decent sound that can be upgraded and the kit can be supplemented.

The heads are useable but not great, they'll be the first thing replaced
As a practice kit, it can be played as is out of the box, but if you want to play out with this kit, be sure to use good heads and cymbals, and spend A LOT of time tuning, and you will not be disappointed!
The single ply clear heads are also standard fare on an entry level kit

I have been playing Pearl drums for over 30 years and needed a simple-portable kit
The kit was usable out of the box with a minimal fix of some muffling, i.e. the heads are OK with some RemO's or E-Rings, and the cymbals are (barely) OK with some tape and/or Moongel
Have played cheap kits to high end
This kit will look cool in the photos and I am exited to use it
