We have yet to use it for steaming vegetables, but it does a nice job making rice

While it does a great job with various grains/rice, it's even better with Oatmeal

Any boxed rice dish that cooks on the stove, I put in here and it does excellent job cooking.

This Hamilton Beach does a really great job

While this cooker does a nice job churning out consistent, well-cooked grains (I've tried several types of rice, farro, quinoa, and oatmeal), it is a major pain to clean

Other than that, I DO recommend the unit because it does a nice job cooking and is very easy to clean.

I bought a cheap-o rice cooker for $20 and it works better
