You want the weight at the needle to be enough to keep the needle in the groove but not to damage the record or the needle

It has a nice weight to it, unlike the light cheap looking and feeling options available today

There are other great features, too, as well as a control for adjusting the weight of the arm so that it plays each album as it was meant to be played
