CPU's don't wear out, neither does memory, but a hard drive that is 5 years old MIGHT end up developing issues, especially when it is the smaller "notebook" size hard drive (and this one is).

So...IF you are planning to keep the existing hard-drive, be aware that the drive already has 4-5 years of use

Apparently there are a few small, relatively low-powered cards that would allow some graphics-intensive activity, but you really shouldn't expect to upgrade much of anything on this PC with the exception of the hard drive or memory.

I re-purposed an old external hard drive and a usb wifi adapter....and added a Bluetooth adapter and a dp to hdmi adapter (and 8 gbs of readyboost 'ram') .....and voila!

This is a refurb, and the refurb company simply wiped the existing hard drive and installed Windows 10.

Sometimes a mechanical drive will work for years and years, that's true.
