On top of all that, the cartridges are very expensive

expensive cartridges but buy the super capacity ones, and cheaper in the long run.

Based on the price of HP toner and the fact that I received a defective toner cartridge with a brand new printer, I can't recommend buying this printer

3 months into using it, less than 600 pages printed, there are magenta streaks on every color pages printed, I've tried cleaning it numerous times, but it looks like they shipped it with a defective cartridge

I owned this printer for years since yesterday HP installed an update WITHOUT my consent that prevents me from working because I do not use their expensive cartridges
