If you are not inclined to a little soldering, then this option is the best for this exact purpose, you'll want to look into a beach tech item for WAY more money

I first tried using the Blue Mikey, which I do happen to like, but I still needed more control and would have loved the option of using a compressor to tame the decibel levels of my high notes

But hey.. it's a GREAT GREAT GREAT option for DSLR film shooters on a budget that have good XLR mics, and want to maybe lighten up their rig by leaving the Zoom recorder off and recording right into the camera

Those options might be more expensive, but won't sound like garbage.
