iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum with Wi-Fi Connectivity, Works with Alexa, Ideal for Pet Hair, Carpets, Hard Floors

    • If the battery won't allow it to clean your home in one charge it'll dock itself to charge and then start where it left off until it's finished
    • I set the Roomba up in the bedroom, and hit "clean", prepared to drain the factory charged battery
    • Rosie’s battery is not as powerful as it should be, but having said that, she still manages to fill up the dust bin on every charge.
    • Sometimes the battery dies and the equipment is not able to return to the base on time for recharging.
    • The conclusion is that more battery would not really be helpful anyway.
    • Occasionally Roomba will get somewhere and not have enough batteries to get to the home base, it seems to happen if Roomba gets stuck a
    • The wifi connectivity makes setting routines easy, but again drains the battery quicker.
    • Frankly, an almost $900 vacuum should be functioning perfectly 99% of the time, yet 50% of the time I find it wedged in an opening that is just a bit too small, or backed into a corner it can’t get out of, or most infuriating, just sitting in the middle of the floor with its battery dead.
    • I would argue with iRobot saying the battery last long enough to clean a whole level in most houses.
    • I decided to give the roomba another chance,After deciding I would rather spend the time with my kids than constantly vacuuming, I went with the 980 due to the fact that it has a much better battery life and the suction was supposed to be better
    • The larger battery on the 980 and extra suction power for carpet was worth it for me
    • Unlike the 655, which I would often find lost somewhere in my home with dead batteries, the 980 always makes it to its home charger, and the signal from the upstairs home charger never interferes with it docking properly
    • but if the battery is defective, it is of no use to me.
    • However, the battery was stone dead and I was afraid that it would need to be replaced, but after a couple of charges it works great
    • But no, it will again waste its battery on rooms it has already covered and then perhaps in the middle it'll change its mind and go to the room where you really want it finally go
    • It almost never made it through the whole job, as it would run up against the depleted battery, die before making it to the charger, and cancel the job.
    • It also navigates its way back to the base well, and remembers where it was when the battery went dead so it can go back and pick up where it left off when the battery is charged again
    • But, of course, more powerful batteries weigh more
    • I do not believe that it should two full battery charges to clean 400 square feet.
    • When it docks but not all of the way it looks like it’s docked until the nest scheduled cleaning appointment when it fails to work and upon examining it I discover that the battery is completely drained
    • Then, the battery was slow, so the robot stops
    • Battery died and company no longer supports their proprietary battery thinking I will have to buy a new unit
    • Then by that time the battery is dead from all the traveling around it did (unnecessarily) so it goes off hunting for the home base
    • Battery died and company no longer supports their proprietary battery thinking I will have to buy a new unit
    • She passed out from exhaustion with a depleted battery and a bin that was stuffed to the gills (I later found a setting in the app that allows her to go back to the dock and let me know when she's full rather than to keep going until she was ready to burst, poor thing). So, back up a bit, we have an angel Border Collie (perfect in every way except she drops drifts of hair which can be pretty horrifying in a kitchen with light tile).
    • The one I bought (not from Amazon) had a defective battery
    • Battery death during run
    • The battery would be completely dead
    • she also gets caught up in the bedskirt in our guest bedroom which also shuts her down and drains her battery
    • she tends to get caught up in the track of our sliding glass door, which shuts her down and drains her battery
    • The battery claims like 50 minutes - in reality I rarely get over 304
    • It will then keep going over the same area in the other room again and again until it drains its battery
    • Thus, the iRobot 980 would almost always died half-way when using compatible batteries
    • The battery drained and she returned to her charging station
    • Battery usually dies on the job
    • But ever since then, the roomba doesn't seem to remember how to make it back to its home base and we find it randomly throughout the house with a dead battery
    • The real positive is the larger battery and stronger suction for carpet
    • iRobot still has many places they can improve (battery, using generated maps, obstacle avoidance, area rugs, floor transition navigation, etc.)
    • The 880 also has an extremely good battery, I’m very pleased with the battery life on the 880
    • The battery on our first one died and was replaced under warranty without any hassle
    • it'll do that until either the battery runs out, or the unit errors out.3
    • Hopefully by that time, the battery would be more readily available for sale
    • Also, those compatible higher mAH batteries appear to be lighter in weight than the original one 3300 mAH offer by iRobot
    • The 980 has a better battery
    • When I set it up for its first charge, it played a message "Check that roomba's battery is installed" and refused to charge
    • Called Irobot who did act quickly to replace the battery, however the new battery has exactly the same problem.
    • The problem I have is the battery after the 2 hr cleaning takes all day for it to charge halfway
    • For those wanting to use cheaper compatibles batteries, I would advise you get to the 800 series or lesser as there are tons of compatible batteries that can work with it.(b
    • The battery has died on me a few times without returning to the docking station for a recharge which is concerning but over all we are happy with it.
    • I feel like if the 980 ever drains its battery it should be very easy to reprogram the schedule when it exists in the cloud
    • -Battery last awhile-Love the app and alexa capabilities
    • App and map of house / reports are a joke.- Weak battery+Great at picking up fine dust+Maintenance free rollers
    • cleans great, great battery life but dies, every, single, day, in the middle of a room somewhere
    • I returned 960 for the better smart capabilities and battery life of 980
    • cleans great, great battery life but dies, every, single, day, in the middle of a room somewhere
    • Battery is a joke
    • App and map of house / reports are a joke.- Weak battery+Great at picking up fine dust+Maintenance free rollers
    • Battery life very good
    • The camera on the roomba is supposed to help it map out the house so it doesn't get stuck as often, from what I can tell all the camera does is drain the battery quicker.
    • For those wanting to use cheaper compatibles batteries, I would advise you get to the 800 series or lesser as there are tons of compatible batteries that can work with it.(b
    • It will then come back to the other room do a few rounds and then completely drain its battery and then will go for a NINETY MINUTE charge session at its dock
    • Battery charge sufficient to clean a large area (my whole house!)
    • Too bad battery life on carpets drops it from 1 hour 50 minutes for wood to 50 minutes for carpet.
    • only issue was buying it open from third-party had a aftermarket battery that would not charge all the way once changed out with original Roomba battery no issues with using this product.
    • It also had trouble finding the charging station, frequently marooning itself out in the middle of the floor with a dead battery
    • We bought it from B&B (around 130 dollars cheaper with coupon)
    • Each time she docks, I clean out her basket and brush off her filter and each time I do it, I am shocked as to how much dust, debris and fur is in the basket!!
    • We have to empty the bin after each cleaning as sometimes there is so much hair/dirt that even in one cleaning, the roomba will stop as the dust bin is full.
    • Love it Does get confused as to home base some times by does great job.
    • I definitely recommend this as long as it's not for excessive dog hair on carpet.
    • The brushes are more advanced and much easier to clean as they are a strips of rubber than traditional brush fibers
    • I have Neck, back & knee hardware that makes it difficult to clean as much as I would like to.
    • He cleans as if it is a new space every day
    • It also cannot clean over black carpet as it thinks its falling off of a cliff
    • It doesn't clean the rug nearly as good as my upright (durr) but it cleans it some
    • We have 5 dogs...keeps the floors clean of dog hair...honestly did not expect it to be as great as it is...set it and forget it (aside from emptying the bin).
    • This promotes reliable navigation both, for returning to point where it quit due to low battery as well as in finding its home dock.
    • not as flexible as I had hoped
    • First day she sucked up a
    • Now it is working up in the children’s room where it works partially as a
    • My husband and I were fascinated as we watched it go from room to room.
    • You don't get the same level of clean as if you vacuumed yourself, but it's close enough
    • In theory great idea but as far as it cleaning when not home so far hasn't worked to well as it gets stuck daily
    • While no robot is perfect, this robot does an overall good job cleaning as it works its way around the floor area
    • Vacuum does an excellent job cleaning a
    • n’t take 6hours to fully clean my 2 bedroom home
    • n’t had the 980 clog like that yet
    • and NOW THEY WON"T RESPOND, because it's
