It makes a white noise and sound quality is not clear.

I can't use it any more because there is just so much static and background noise

I give a one star because the infernal noise makes it worthless as an iPod dock, and an iPod dock is the only thing it does

One day past this date, the JBL On Stage III started making deep humming noises which would only stop if I turned it off and pulled my ipod out.

Had seen some reviews complain of static and occasional 'whir' noise but gave benefit of doubt to JBL

When I plugged the iPod into the docking station & turned it on, there was a buzzing static noise.
