Installation could be tough for a beginner but just find a good stud finder

If your ceiling joists are horizontal, and not parallel to the orientation of the hoist (drawing 2), you must use a 2x4 board installed horizontal to the hoist for proper installation.

I lost the installations.

Installation was relatively easy, the instructions were easy to follow, the system itself is easy to use (I've lowered and hoisted my kayak a couple dozen times now), and the "buckles" that some people complained about are nowhere in sight--apparently they've revamped their product so there are no buckles at all

Installation of the pulleys was pretty straightforward, except again, the instructions for threading the rope through the pulleys (particularly the part about the braking system) was pretty cryptic

Also, the installation is a bit frustrating because there are a few parts that they highly recommend you use, however those parts are not included (I can't remember all of it, but you'll want to get an 8 foot 1x4 or 2x4, some extra lag bolts and corresponding washers)

First...as is most often the case with things in life I've found, installation is never slick.

Otherwise I recommend this kit as rest of components seem decent and installation was pretty easy/straight forward.

Only 4 stars as the company shouldn't include any lag screws and should require the purchaser to buy the appropriate rated screws for mounting as the included screws for my application were too short and some were very poor quality as they broke.

This thing is as great as it is simple.
