  • Don't expect it to be right up against the ceiling, but overall a great product at a great price!
  • Great price for usable item with flexibility for storage a variety of spaces and multiple items.
  • This is a great p product, easy to install and really easy to use.
  • Worked perfectly, easy to install and a great price for the quality.
  • Works great, well priced and pretty easy to install (and I'm not exactly really handy with tools).

Reviews around work (4.66 of 5)

  • The polypropylene cord is very strong and the locking mechanism works well, although for safety the cord needs to be tied off to the cord holder (see photos)
  • This a cheap and simple design that works
  • This pulley works great--the mechanism works like curtains where you pull the cord one direction to raise/lower, and pulling the
  • Mount works great, and the auto lock is strong and simple to operate
  • It was easy to install and has worked well up until this morning

Reviews around value (4.66 of 5)

  • Great value for an overhead kayak storage in your garage.
  • Installation took some effort but works great and good value
  • Only 4 stars as the company shouldn't include any lag screws and should require the purchaser to buy the appropriate rated screws for mounting as the included screws for my application were too short and some were very poor quality as they broke.
  • A little tricky to orient and run the rope but works as it should.

Reviews around solution (4.40 of 5)

  • I had no floor space in my drive-under garage and the RAD kayak lift was a perfect solution.
  • It’s a good temporary solution but I would not use it long term
  • All in all a pretty good solution for storing a kayak in your garage.
  • This is an excellent solution for kayaks, ladders, or recumbent trikes
  • Unless you have very tall ceilings, this kit is not an ideal solution.

Reviews around install (4.07 of 5)

  • Easy install, worked out just like I hoped it would, got the yaks up off the ground and looks pretty cool
  • If your handy with tools and have some help the install is a breeze.
  • Very easy install... the longest part of the install was figuring out the direction of the rope through the pullies and the block
  • Only 4 stars as the company shouldn't include any lag screws and should require the purchaser to buy the appropriate rated screws for mounting as the included screws for my application were too short and some were very poor quality as they broke.
  • Install was fairly easy but the instructions for threading the ropes are terrible.

Reviews around system (3.91 of 5)

  • Awesome pulley system to get my yak off the floor and out of the way when not in use!
  • While it is technically possible to raise it off the ground using this system, it is a monumental task and it feels like I am going to bring it all crashing down.
  • Maybe it works when it's exactly the same rope on both sides but since there's not enough length to do that, the all system is doomed....
  • The system itself seems solid enough, and installation was easy
  • System works great for getting my 17 ft canoe up off the floor in my garage

Reviews around hoist (3.70 of 5)

  • I was pretty excited to get this hoist and clear up some space in the garage
  • What good would a kayak hoist be if there were no way to attach kayak to it?
  • My garage trusses are ten feet above floor, and this hoist gets the kayak clear up iout of tghe way.
  • Easy Kayak Hoist"... strongly recommend giving that a watch first.
  • I used this hoist to hang a 13.5 tandem kayak from my garage ceiling

Reviews around way (3.55 of 5)

  • I learned the hard way and had my boat crash to the floor from 6' up in the air
  • The rope is kind of cheap and the way the brake holds the rope I can see it getting damaged over time
  • Because my rafters run the "wrong" way, I added 2x4 cross braces, which worked really nicely (and cheap)
  • It really helped me that I'm creative and knowledgeable to figure out the best way to mount the brackets on the ceiling.
  • Please take care in mounting...make sure you are fully attached to floor joists, as I learned that the hard way

Reviews around installation (3.40 of 5)

  • The lock works well and installation is pretty straightforward.
  • The system itself seems solid enough, and installation was easy
  • Product works well however installation wasn’t that easy because the screws that hold the brockets totally and completely broke in

Reviews around strap (3.26 of 5)

  • I've read many 1 star reviews about the straps failing(breaking) or completely sliding off the end of the kayak
  • The straps are adjustable to fit whatever you want to hoist
  • I love the adjustable straps which allow me to get my kayak snug up to the ceiling and out of the way
  • Most of you won't be foolish to try and hang above your garage doors, but the straps are a bit frustrating and could be improved
  • The straps are adjustable but again may not get your kayak as high as desired.

Reviews around quality (3.23 of 5)

  • Those screw provided were very poor quality, heads broke off.
  • Not a horrible design but the rope is of a very poor quality
  • MOST of the parts that come with this hoist are of good quality
  • The rope works fine but I would have preferred a better quality rope

Reviews around rope (3.02 of 5)

  • The rope is crap and plan for on replacing before you use.
  • Now I have to uninstall and go out and buy enough rope to fit
  • I didn't like the rope that came with it, it was already starting to
  • The rope supplied is a cheap rope that frays easily also
  • If nothing else I suggest you upgrade the lag bolts and rope

Reviews around crash (2.54 of 5)

  • I wouldn't trust this as delivered at all , as the flaw is hidden once you install it and will be uncovered only when your kayak or canoe is someday crashing to the floor after the rope fails at this point.
  • A little tricky to orient and run the rope but works as it should.
  • Only 4 stars as the company shouldn't include any lag screws and should require the purchaser to buy the appropriate rated screws for mounting as the included screws for my application were too short and some were very poor quality as they broke.
  • Notes: It MUST be attached through the ceiling to a strong beam(s), so accurately locating that beam is essential
  • This past week we heard a large "crash" and our kayaks fell to the floor.

Reviews around kayak (2.20 of 5)

  • This is working perfectly to hoist up and store my car top carrier, not a kayak
  • Due to the design, your kayak will hang at least 2-ft from the ceiling.
  • I had to hang the kayak upside down because it slipped out of the hanging straps if right side up
  • I have used this to hang my 10' sit on top kayak under my deck until i make some room for it in the garage
  • The rope which is used in the pulley system is not strong enough to support my 14ft kayak

Reviews around screw (2.16 of 5)

  • rack works great once installed, but i had to purchase new screws as i broke of the supplied ones.
  • I didnt trust the hardware (bolts and screws) and the Rope included, so I replaced them
  • The rest of the structure is really nice but the screws were cheap.
  • Using better mounting screws with washers into the center of a 2x4 on both ends seems decent however lifting a 70lb yak resulted in too much downforce for my liking
  • I would have rated this product much better if it wasn't for those integral screws that are THE most important for safety's sake.

Reviews around head (2.05 of 5)

  • Those screw provided were very poor quality, heads broke off.
  • After some head scratching (and even more cussing) it turns out the brake mechanism wasn’t bent enough when it was stamped out
  • A little tricky to orient and run the rope but works as it should.
  • The head broke off on and the other stripped very easily
  • This thing is as great as it is simple.

Reviews around bolt (1.95 of 5)

  • The bolts they provide to attatch their device to the wood 2x4 broke
  • Mounting went pretty easy and then the mounting bolts broke and my kayak crashed to ground
  • the most important lag bolt will be the one nearest the brake
  • , rope is good (but not long enough) , hardware (lag screws, bolts and lock nuts) good
  • I used some better quality bolts and screws from the hardware store and haven't had any issues with the rest of the system.

Reviews around plastic buckle (1.80 of 5)

  • A little tricky to orient and run the rope but works as it should.
  • This is a great p product, easy to install and really easy to use.
  • The most critical problem is that the plastic buckles failed and the canoe fell from the ceiling
  • I personally do not have any plastic buckles to break in my kit
  • Plastic buckle snapped after a years use allowing kayak to fall on to vehicle and damage roof

Reviews around failure (1.80 of 5)

  • Unfortunately, my hoist just suffered a catastrophic failure, and it turns out that the "100 unconditional lifetime warranty" isn't a 100% unconditional lifetime warranty
  • I was concerned that the plastic would be a weak failure point.
  • This thing is as great as it is simple.
  • And the fact that they use a 3rd party to insulate themselves tells me they would disappear should a catastrophic failure occur.

Reviews around bite (1.76 of 5)

  • Instructions are a bit difficult to understand how rope needs to run through pulleys, but once that part is done, it works like a charm
  • We are a bit nervous because the nylon rope it came with seems like it was fraying right out of the bag
  • Also it’s a bit difficult to hoist anything when the ropes are pushed to the side by the kayak
  • The manufacturer could do a bit of work on the break, but it works fine.

Reviews around note (1.00 of 5)

  • One other note, there is a trick to letting them down because of the locking action on the pulleys.
  • As other have noted, the boat is going hang lower than you expected, if you use the system unmodified
  • Had to re-string as the instructions, as noted in other reviews, are a little unclear.
  • Note, I did not exceed the weight limit as the boat ways 120 lbs

Reviews around link (1.00 of 5)

  • I have enough screws and bolts holding it up to support a small elephant, but I am concerned about the weak link - the hangers
  • Additionally, the brackets are held up by two little screws (half of mine were missing to begin with) which becomes a weak link in the entire system
  • I went to the garage this morning to see if it was still hanging - it is!I would give this a 5-star rating if I felt the weak link wasn't so weak, and if the instructions were better.
