Don't expect it to be right up against the ceiling, but overall a great product at a great price!

Install was fairly easy but the instructions for threading the ropes are terrible.

Awesome pulley system to get my yak off the floor and out of the way when not in use!

While it is technically possible to raise it off the ground using this system, it is a monumental task and it feels like I am going to bring it all crashing down.

Maybe it works when it's exactly the same rope on both sides but since there's not enough length to do that, the all system is doomed....

What good would a kayak hoist be if there were no way to attach kayak to it?

My garage trusses are ten feet above floor, and this hoist gets the kayak clear up iout of tghe way.

Easy Kayak Hoist"... strongly recommend giving that a watch first.

I used this hoist to hang a 13.5 tandem kayak from my garage ceiling

I learned the hard way and had my boat crash to the floor from 6' up in the air

The rope is kind of cheap and the way the brake holds the rope I can see it getting damaged over time

Because my rafters run the "wrong" way, I added 2x4 cross braces, which worked really nicely (and cheap)

It really helped me that I'm creative and knowledgeable to figure out the best way to mount the brackets on the ceiling.

Please take care in mounting...make sure you are fully attached to floor joists, as I learned that the hard way

I've read many 1 star reviews about the straps failing(breaking) or completely sliding off the end of the kayak

The straps are adjustable to fit whatever you want to hoist

I love the adjustable straps which allow me to get my kayak snug up to the ceiling and out of the way

Most of you won't be foolish to try and hang above your garage doors, but the straps are a bit frustrating and could be improved

I wouldn't trust this as delivered at all , as the flaw is hidden once you install it and will be uncovered only when your kayak or canoe is someday crashing to the floor after the rope fails at this point.

Notes: It MUST be attached through the ceiling to a strong beam(s), so accurately locating that beam is essential

This past week we heard a large "crash" and our kayaks fell to the floor.

This is working perfectly to hoist up and store my car top carrier, not a kayak

Due to the design, your kayak will hang at least 2-ft from the ceiling.

I had to hang the kayak upside down because it slipped out of the hanging straps if right side up

I have used this to hang my 10' sit on top kayak under my deck until i make some room for it in the garage

The rope which is used in the pulley system is not strong enough to support my 14ft kayak

rack works great once installed, but i had to purchase new screws as i broke of the supplied ones.

I didnt trust the hardware (bolts and screws) and the Rope included, so I replaced them

The rest of the structure is really nice but the screws were cheap.

Using better mounting screws with washers into the center of a 2x4 on both ends seems decent however lifting a 70lb yak resulted in too much downforce for my liking

The bolts they provide to attatch their device to the wood 2x4 broke

Mounting went pretty easy and then the mounting bolts broke and my kayak crashed to ground

the most important lag bolt will be the one nearest the brake

, rope is good (but not long enough) , hardware (lag screws, bolts and lock nuts) good

I personally do not have any plastic buckles to break in my kit

I was concerned that the plastic would be a weak failure point.

This thing is as great as it is simple.

And the fact that they use a 3rd party to insulate themselves tells me they would disappear should a catastrophic failure occur.

I have enough screws and bolts holding it up to support a small elephant, but I am concerned about the weak link - the hangers

Additionally, the brackets are held up by two little screws (half of mine were missing to begin with) which becomes a weak link in the entire system

I went to the garage this morning to see if it was still hanging - it is!I would give this a 5-star rating if I felt the weak link wasn't so weak, and if the instructions were better.
