Kayak Hoist – Overhead Pulley System with 125 lb Capacity for Kayak, Canoe, Bike, or Ladder Storage by Rad Sportz

    • I have 12' high ceilings in my garage so the rope wasn't quite long enough but it still works just fine
    • My shop has 12 foot side walls and the bike hoists include enough rope, but the kayak hoist does not.
    • The rope will probably need to be upgraded at some point but it works well.
    • If I keep this I’ll have to buy a more durable rope
    • I would have spent way more at the hardware store trying to piece together enough pullies and rope
    • Works great needs more rope.
    • There was not enough rope to hang from my 12 foot ceilings plus rope between hooks to prevent slide out
    • That may have damaged the rope.)2.
    • Rope lock works great just have to get use to it
    • Included rope sucks!!
    • I modified the lift to accommodate the bow and stern rope points to use for lifting the 80 lb 17 ft aluminum canoe.
    • Would get 5 stars but the rope seems pretty flimsy - I can see myself replacing the rope after a season or 2.
    • After a whole weekend I finally got it up, but live with the fear that it can collapse anytime because the plastic rope started to fray already after lifting the kayak a dozen times (I may have to buy a better quality rope as well).
    • One other thing to be aware of: there are 2 types of hoists: 4 pulley, 2 rope systems like this, and 5 pulley, 1 rope systems like most bike hoists
    • Also the rope it comes with is junk I never even bothered trying to use it
    • Pulley system is good rope is crap
    • Although the rope doesn't seem like the
    • Will be buying better rope to replace but other than that this is a solid product.
    • This hoist works great, but the rope is difficult to pull with this amount of weight.
    • The rope is kind of cheap and the way the brake holds the rope I can see it getting damaged over time
    • I think the ropes will probably have to be replaced soon because they free quite easily but other than that it looks like a quality product and functions as described.
    • Cheap rope and poor lock for upper weight limit
    • And not enough rope - installed with 10' vertical drop to floor and 6' spacing on
    • So the biggest complaints were about plastic buckles breaking, the nylon webbing breaking, cheap rope etc
    • The rope is junk, and was already fraying after I raised and lowered the boat twice, have already replaced it.
    • I have 11-ft ceilings in my garage and there is absolutely not enough rope included to hang my kayak with the pulleys mounted 7-
    • Main issue is not enough rope.
    • Funny thing, instructions said there was more than enough rope.
    • My reason for 4 stars is the manual states there is more than enough rope included, but I need about another 6
    • It works but surprised that a nice clean tightly braided rope was not included.
    • As you can see, our ceiling is not too high, 10 ft, and we did not have enough rope, especially after cutting a piece to stabilize the hooks, which btw is barely mentioned in the directions.
    • Now I have to uninstall and go out and buy enough rope to fit
    • To get directly to the point, depending on how you want to hang this you may need to spend $20 additional on supplies such as lumber, lag bolts, and rope.
    • Works very well, but the rope it comes with frays too easily
    • Ok but the rope is frayed and unuseable.
    • The new straps (that don't use clips) are solid and the rope, although still plastic, seems fine.
    • I even modified the position of the Clete ( the handle that your excess rope is secured to)
    • If you do anything at all spend 10$ and upgrade to a better load rated rope
    • Regardless of what the manual says, I have a 12' ceiling, spaced the pulleys 6' apart, and did not have enough rope to go down the 4' recommended height of rope to pull
    • Main issue is not enough rope.
    • I have 11-ft ceilings in my garage and there is absolutely not enough rope included to hang my kayak with the pulleys mounted 7-
    • There also wasn't enough rope to go in between the hangers like the instructions showed.
    • Front and back ropes do not want to work together
    • Works great- rope will not last
    • The rope works fine but I would have preferred a better quality rope
    • The rope works fine but I would have preferred a better quality rope
    • I will probably end up putting better rope on it next spring
    • It went together easy and the rope lock works very good but the rope itself had Frey marks so added safety hooks if the rope or something else should break
    • Instructions could be better when it comes to stinging the rope for hoisting.
    • The rope, as others have said sucks
    • The two ropes work independently which can be a good thing if you need to raise it above stuff that is generally in the way
    • The rope that came with mine is satisfactory for now and i will replace as necessary same with the daisy chain a.k.a. the nylon webbing.
    • I didn't like the rope that came with it, it was already starting to
    • the brake didn’t work as well, so I tighten the rope to a cleat
    • But, there was not enough rope
    • The lock slipped the stern rope (but not the bow) and dropped my new 90lb boat
    • Pulley system is good rope is crap
    • If nothing else I suggest you upgrade the lag bolts and rope
    • The product itself was well designed and well made, HOWEVER, the UNGRADED FOREIGN MADE screw bolts for attaching the (2) ceiling mount brackets and the screws for mounting the rope brackets all twisted/broke when tightening
    • The rope seems fine to me.
    • My garage has a 14 foot ceiling and the rope was just long enough, so i dont see that being a problem for most people
    • I was optimistic that the included rope was long enough to use the way I modified the lift and unfortunately it fell a little
    • I ended up buying a stronger paracord rope.
    • Install was fairly easy but the instructions for threading the ropes are terrible.
    • I installed it today and already the ropes are fraying and the brake system has failed causing my kayak to come crashing down
    • In addition, the rope they give you frayed and my kayaks fell to the floor from 6ft
    • Had to get a better rope now works great
    • Im going to have to get more sturdy rope.
    • I had installed a rope between the two ends as recommended but did not feel safe with the
    • The ONLY downside is the rope is a bit flimsy
    • I like it very much, but still think the manufacture needs to update their hardware to include properly sized lag screws and more rope would be helpful.
    • The so called brake is a joke, the instructions have you put a loose braid rope through small holes in the brake , when you pull on it the rope frays and wouldn't pull through
    • The rope which is used in the pulley system is not strong enough to support my 14ft kayak
    • I like the system but they did not give enough rope since my shop is 14 feet tall.
    • Probably enough rope for a shorter kayak.
    • Rope is cheap, pulleys are suspect
    • So not enough rope to go between hooks to keep them from separating as the instructions said to do.
    • The rope is crap and plan for on replacing before you use.
    • The rope is just too rough to easily pull up, its like the rope is too soft and rough textured to easily pull through the pully system
    • There wasn’t enough rope to provide the approximately 8’ piece that was recommended to keep the belts from sliding apart, I had some twine on hand.
    • (Oh, you LIKE rope burns
    • The rope seems to be holding up well, but I may buy a tougher rope in future
    • cause it's to soft.ordered some better rope that's made in usa.should make a world of difference.other than the rope the metal brackets seem pretty well built.should last a long time!
    • Diagram of running rope (cheap rope by the way) through the "auto-cinch" mechanism wasn't very clear - took a youtube visit to see what the diagram should have depicted.
    • I highly recommend installing a couple of eye bolts into a wall stud, and use a rope to secure the load to the wall in addition to the ceiling
    • Beware you may need more rope unless maybe you have a lower ceiling like 9' or less
    • We are planning on buying a better rope so that it is easier to actually hoist up the kayaks
    • , rope is good (but not long enough) , hardware (lag screws, bolts and lock nuts) good
    • As others have said, the quality of the rope is the only negative I can find, but hey, its more than sufficient to lift my boat, and a good quality rope would cost more than the whole unit might
    • The rope they send with this product is crap it takes nothing to make it fray, which makes it have less strength and more dangerous if you should need to be under your kayak or what ever else you use it for.
    • Rope is probably not good enough for years of use, also the rubber washer around the pullies will probably not hold up years after year
    • I have it up and will have to buy extra pulleys and better rope ,and figure out a way to get the rope to lock
    • It's a good product, would be a great product if the manufacturer would add $10 bucks to the price and supply better rope and fasteners.
    • The rope supplied is a cheap rope that frays easily also
    • In the photo with two kayaks, you can see where I put a screw in the wall to the left at about a 45 degree angle, so I could pull the rope around it to keep it away from the garage rail, then lead it down to where I put the cleat on the wall.
    • I will have to buy some new sturdier ropes to make it safe
    • Well the ropes could be better
    • There was a note in the box pointing out that they no longer use the plastic clip or the cheap rope - both of which are mentioned in other negative reviews here.
    • A little tricky to orient and run the rope but works as it should.
    • Just unravel the whole provided rope and string one rope to the far side and the other end to the near side of the pulley brake, and leave the extra and one continuous rope, don't end up with two ropes.
    • Easy to install and worked fine but there was not enough rope
    • Great product but the rope that comes with it is not great
    • pounds.when you pull the rope feels like your lifting
    • If it included properly sized lag screws and suffiecient rope I would give it five stars.
    • (Oh, you LIKE rope burns
    • Better quality rope is a must have.
    • The only problem is, there is not enough rope unless you are only going 8 feet high.
    • The rope is just too rough to easily pull up, its like the rope is too soft and rough textured to easily pull through the pully system
    • Had to buy 2 sets just to get enough rope for one kayak.
    • Don't use the rope that comes with it, replace with something like 'BlueWater Ropes 4mm Accessory Cord,' as the cheap rope doesn't work very well in the lock mechanism
    • I don't trust this rope to hold my kayak up over
    • so I tied ropes under neath to each steel rafter to catch it if it falls
    • This is a great p product, easy to install and really easy to use.
