Otherwise, it's a great sound effect generator, and you can run a guitar or synth through its input, tapping into the powerful and versatile filter.

There are some decent performances on youtube that people have, using a stylus or other smaller tool to hit the 'keys'.However, the sounds are just too cool and you can get some neat effects or rhythm sounds

As a single instrument you can make some really good sound effects

It is really fun for getting to know what different effects do and how the manipulation of the signal (tone) works

Certainly, it doesn't feature a standard keyboard, it features a ribbon controller, but I love the sound effects and features it can do

Seriously though, if you can afford it, get it: it like a mini MS-20 synth and the filter/dealy effect get the job done on adding cool effects.

Also like the other Monotrons, using the external audio input is fun as an effect.

Also, like a tape delay, you can mess with the pitch as it's repeating by twisting the time knob, which yields some cool effects depending on what you're repeating

That is extremely good of course for taking on the go, but sometimes it is tricky to get at least semi-precise effects out of the tiny knobs and tape.

The knobs will produce all those distinctive effects you've heard from The Who and Pink Floyd

One good/bad thing depending on what you want is that the delay isn't a pristine digital effect -- there's some grittiness there and higher pitches will die off over time instead of being perfectly preserved

through it to get some really crazy voice effects

One of my favorite things is to attach my ipod to it through the AUX with a small AUX chord I have, and use instrument apps for neat effects, or to run songs through it

But this is pretty much by design -- perfect digital effects are available in many places if you want them, and this is intended to have a distinctive sound more like an old tape delay
