Reviews around tone (5.00 of 5)

  • Dual analog oscillators in a unit this small with that distinctive tone of an MS-20 filter... for this price!
  • damn thing produces surprisingly rich low-frequency tones
  • Those down and dirty lows to the higher lead synth tones, you have them all at your fingertips!Using the Cutoff of the VCF and the rate of the LFO, you can create a pulsating, beat, or a synth drum sound!
  • Lot's of cool tones available playing with the pitches and modulation knobs

Reviews around way (4.21 of 5)

  • It's fun to play with, it's a great conversation starter, and is a great and cheap way to get a hold of a modable analog synth
  • The delay is cheap but in the most amazing way, it just mangles the hell out of
  • Really fun, and a great way for kids to learn about sound synthesis.
  • I linked my Monotrons and did have some fun with that, but the delay is just too noises, but not in a good way.
  • If you can't throw down $1200 for a MiniMoog this is a great way to satiate yourself.

Reviews around synth (4.05 of 5)

  • Korg did it again with this little portable pocket synth.
  • The biggest issues was that this synth always produced a white noise or hissing sound, even when hook up to external audio, that was very annoying.
  • This thing is fun!For the price of a full tank of gas (US) you get a legendary ANALOG filter and a decent synth.
  • I've tried to sample it with the "Audio Out" going straight into my audio interface but this synth is NOISY.
  • Otherwise nice little synth and fun to tinker with and will experiment more.

Reviews around product (4.03 of 5)

  • This is a fantastic product, but it all depends on how you look at it
  • I would recommend this product, and I'm looking forward to seeing more true analog gear from Korg in the future.
  • Great quality product and all around fun for any music fan!
  • Bad product.
  • This product makes some pretty neat sounds but lacks the sophistication and diversity expected at the price I paid.

Reviews around feature (3.99 of 5)

  • This one has a tuning circuit that divides the ribbon into discrete note sections - a nice feature from the Monotribe.
  • The best feature about this, I would say, would be the ability to channel in audio via a 3.5mm jack and assign modulation and a filter
  • You can run a song through it and play sounds over it and that feature is pretty cool
  • input is a great feature, letting you route audio into the unit to make use of the
  • The filter has been secretly set to "follow" across the ribbon, meaning the cutoff frequency falls as you move your finger to the left, and rises as you move to the right.

Reviews around filter (3.95 of 5)

  • Second, for the size and features, it's just a great value--the filter is awesome, and the type of sound you can get out of this little thing is very surprising
  • I will say however, it can be used as a filter box for external sounds, using the aux in port, which actually is pretty nice for devices with either a very hidden or nonexistent filter, like a cheap keyboard or a guitar
  • The filter on this little box is evil
  • Exactly what I wanted: a fun noise generator and fx filter
  • Otherwise, it's a great sound effect generator, and you can run a guitar or synth through its input, tapping into the powerful and versatile filter.

Reviews around instrument (3.86 of 5)

  • And it's great to use as a small, affordable delay effect to add to an instrument -- especially something like a Volca or something similar where the instrument's portable and you're already using a 1/8" jack, where it's going to be easier to deal with than a pedal effect
  • So, the Korg was the perfect instrument to keep his attention since the variety of sounds are
  • It's great to add as an FX instrument when I jam -- it gives great sci fi or other kinds of sounds to add to a mix, and adds something really distinctive
  • Overall its a good instrument to by,specially at the price Korg has given to it
  • and I can ever hear it with my ears when the instrument is turned up loud and is playing out of the built in speakers

Reviews around device (3.76 of 5)

  • He was overwhelmed by the powerof the little device.
  • I've thought of maybe sanding the edges off a little; it'd be easy and wouldn't hurt the device
  • I can't praise this device enough
  • Other than that - it's a cool little device with a wide range of sounds and effects
  • Perfect device for little sweep transitions in your songs.

Reviews around effect (3.68 of 5)

  • One good/bad thing depending on what you want is that the delay isn't a pristine digital effect -- there's some grittiness there and higher pitches will die off over time instead of being perfectly preserved
  • Also, like a tape delay, you can mess with the pitch as it's repeating by twisting the time knob, which yields some cool effects depending on what you're repeating
  • As a single instrument you can make some really good sound effects
  • It is really fun for getting to know what different effects do and how the manipulation of the signal (tone) works
  • But this is pretty much by design -- perfect digital effects are available in many places if you want them, and this is intended to have a distinctive sound more like an old tape delay

Reviews around sound (3.07 of 5)

  • He began fooling around with it immediately, and enjoyed the sounds he could get out of it
  • Less for the musician, more for the sound designer, you can squelch, scream, grit, stutter, and even get some cool tonal sounds as well.
  • It makes some surprisingly awesome sounds with great quality
  • The sounds you can get from this little guy are pretty amazing, especially through a decent sound system
  • You can run anything into it, and if you're brave, you can even modify it to get even crazier sounds.

  • Only thing of this size/price I like better is the Monotron Delay

Reviews around plastic (1.00 of 5)

  • I bought this with all the forefront knowledge that this little "toy" (yes, its not even hard plastic
  • Be careful with plugging/unplugging devices into it as it's pretty cheap plastic but should hold up well if you're gentle with it
  • The filter has been secretly set to "follow" across the ribbon, meaning the cutoff frequency falls as you move your finger to the left, and rises as you move to the right.
  • I had low expectations from the start, about a cheap plastic toy that I expected to use on one recording, and then give it to a kid or something
