LeapFrog Epic 7" Android-based Kids Tablet 16GB, Green

    • when I replenish all her favorite games and school programs for now we are both disappointed about this new upgrade
    • While I love the Leapfrog specific games, because they're fun and educational, they are more expensive than the average apps/games
    • There are some really great educational games and apps available through Leapfrogs app store
    • not only that but the games are boring even for my 4 year old
    • The games are expensive I don't mind paying 5-10$ for a good game but some were much more
    • I always found the previous generation Leapfrog tablets to be overpriced because they were a locked ecosystem with very limited (and overpriced) apps/games
    • No more access to mindless repetitious games that send him in a tizzy
    • I appreciate that there are cheap games but they don't seem to keep my daughters interest as well
    • The tablet comes with 10 apps to get you started as well as a MagicCard game for helping to learn letters and spelling
    • Where is the Tangled spelling game
    • Worst of all, the games we bought from leapfrog and downloaded freeze up constantly or give an error message and won't play.
    • I contacted them and they wouldn't work with us at all, offered a free game with a new leapster purchase
    • Great games already loaded on tablet.
    • The games seem fun for her, but I have one major complaint
    • Like all other LeapFrog tablets before it I love that I can trust the games to be both educational and entertaining
    • This makes him feel like he always has a new game
    • They loved the games and the graphics were so much clearer.
    • With the apps from amazon I discovered today my 5 year old playing a game that gives options to buy with real money to progress the game faster... and there are ads on some of the regular amazon free
    • The LeapFrog team of educators finds age appropriate learning games on Google Play, and these apps are adapted and made available in the LeapFrog Epic store
    • They can play lapser games and i put amazon onto it so i can access all the free apps and games from there too
    • my son who has special needs is really happy with this tablet, he loves the loaded games, and it was easy to set up, i took a gamble and got one that had a damage box for half the price
    • Good learning games but limited in quantity.
    • My son loves the games , the games that identifies mathematics , reading and when story telling
    • Apps that I have added included: Netflix, Vudu, Flixster Video, Skype and a few of my child’s favorite game such as hair salon and some cooking game
    • so I put the Amazon App on it, and he has all his favorite games, books and shows from Amazon on it.
    • Love these educational games.
    • LeapFrog has great games and stories that he enjoys.
    • These games are on his home page now, and easy to access
    • Lots of age appropriate games and options for the kids to be completely self-driven creative.
    • When you're choosing which free games you want that come with the tablet, it lets you choose age appropriate
    • However, being it's an android device I installed Amazon Underground where I can download full free (no ads) games outside of the Leapfrog OS for my child
    • There are new games and videos available for the Epic that are not available for the Platinum
    • Each game costs a pretty penny and there are no free games
    • The games that you can purchase are like 20 dollars and up
    • Just as a warning, the games are expensive
    • Very difficult to download and use apps, there are not many free apps available, slow processor, games and other apps are $10+ to start.
    • Since it is running an Android operating system it loads games much faster than our older (but still loved LeapPads)
    • The other games can get a bit pricey, but a little tip for those just getting started
    • Although Leapfrog games are pricey on their app store, the gift cards make it more affordable and you can always download cheaper games from Amazon
    • I have older grand children and they love playing the games too
    • They are both great games and some of our son's favorites
    • The games get very expensive and over a year or two can run you $200 or upwards to $500 (we have about $500 retail worth in games but buying gift cards at discount then using them during half price sales we've spent less around $250 over 4 years
    • The digital games are more expensive than games on ioS and Android
    • I like that we can access the underground appstore and all the free games
    • First of all, the top 2 games that my oldest son wanted (Hot Wheels Reading Race and Turbo Fast) are suddenly no longer available
    • It has wonderful graphics and interactive Leapfrog games
    • Your access to games is limited to those made by LeapFrog, which are all top-notch high quality games and they are ALL educational
    • facing). The leapfrog games are expensive
    • Overall a good tablet with fun but expensive games.
    • What good is an educational game if your kids don't want to play it
    • I like that it has good games for kids, but if you are looking for apps, I wouldn't recommend this tablet
    • The games you have to choose from aren't too cheap
    • It really is great for both of these, giving about 20 free games right from the start and allowing downloads of any digital Leapfrog purchases (including titles already owned).
    • I wish more of my sons leapster gs games were compatible
    • Wish there were more games available for a toddler
    • I'm not sure what this means if you've downloaded the game through the game center but for us it means all the games he has been playing with aren't usable on this tablet
    • The port to put the game cartridges is different from an earlier version so all the game cartridges I bought for the older version are obsolete, so my child cannot enjoy all the games she used to play on the older model
    • I like the fact that the leapfrog games are kid safe, have no in app purchases, and don't have tracking/ads
    • (It came with some free games.
    • Just like previous LeapFrog games, the games installed on the Epic are created to encourage learning & support critical thinking.
    • Tons of free books, games, videos, etc.
    • But, the games and educational videos seem like something that will keep her interest
    • Many kid friendly games
    • After years of sharing my kindle with my now 5 year old son, he finally has a device with his favorite games, and more, for himself
    • The games are expensive I don't mind paying 5-10$ for a good game but some were much more
    • There are many fun and engaging games available on the new Epic
    • Lacking in free games and overall quality of hardware.
    • My daughter likes the learning games, but the other games are meant to be mildly addictive so having the system steer her helps cut down on parental interference.
    • Also, the games and features on this are WONDERFUL for kids
    • But: the games have no advertising or in-app purchases, are educationally-based, my son enjoys most of them, and it's really easy to get a bargain.
    • I love the educational games.
    • Just like previous LeapFrog tablets and game systems, the games installed on the Epic are created to encourage learning & support critical thinking.*Disclosure: I was provided a LeapFrog Epic for review purposes, however ALL opinions are 100% my own!
    • I didn't see any good educational games preloaded for preschool
    • He loves the games
    • I love that he can play his leap games as well as android based games
    • As for the cartridge slot missing, kind of a bummer (since own other LeapFrog products), but that is due to the fact that it's running Android not LeapOS and thus the old games are not compatible, so that's not a biggie for me as most of the games I got for the old LeapPad were digital downloads and they just transferred to the Epic (as LeapFrog converted them)
    • But it comes with a handful of free ones and if you download Amazon App Store you can access all those free or cheaper apps/games.
    • which in my opinion one crazy expensive compared to any other app store while the other is a nice gesture, however, its pretty apparent it isnt a priority for amazon to provide "true" children games as the majority of them have ads, in-game popups which lead to an external browser when clicked on as well as glorified icons for ingame purchases.
    • I loaded the Amazon app store so he could watch Netflix and download free games as well
    • so many great educational games; hours of fun and entertainment.
    • The games are expensive for LeaPas though, and considering the prices of the tablets themselves, it can be a bit much
    • This tablet has been PERFECT for my 2 year old!His brothers got tablets from their Nana last Christmas, but he has started enjoying tablet games, too
    • controlso Determine which games are available to which
    • The games are pointless or for play or not fun or too advanced
    • And compatible games transferred from the Ultra to the Epic
    • This tablet is for parents will to spend more on a tablet that is educational based, not a cheap Android tablet (or even a iPad) that has some good and some bad educational games, but not specifically designed for educational games only.
    • The games are all very expensive
    • The only criticisms I have are that the stylus should be redesigned for a later version and there needs to be more upscale games for the new platform
    • The best part is NO MORE GAME CARTRIDGES TO LOSE
    • It took a great deal of time to figure it out, but we finally got the Amazon app onto this tablet, and was able to download my son's favorite games, which are of more interest to him(Toto, Pepi Tree, Pepi Bath, and some Dr. Panda games)
    • She can navigate it herself and loves the games, and choices she has to keep her entertained!
    • They only get one star because 1) my kids really love the Leapfrog games we have downloaded 2
    • I like the fact that the games are age appropriate and reaches the children according to their age
    • Once this changes I will give 5 stars!(Re: Most important apps missing for us- Tangled, I Spy Spooky Mansion (ALL I Spy), All Magic School Bus movies/games, All Sophia the First, Frozen E-Book, Princess Pop-up Story Adventures, ALL Clifford, Transformers, Iron Man, etc.)Also, it would be nice if they had folders like our Leap Pads had to organize the games they have
