But my guess is that the problem I encountered is what is behind some of the bad reviews here on Amazon, and I would also guess that even though the problem's apparently dependent on the particular computer used, it could and should be fixed to improve this model

After receiving this item as a gift, I was unable to get the drivers to work with Reaper DAW (I'm running Windows 7 in 64bit), and on further investigation on their forums, found a slew of poor reviews of this product's hardware (such as the volume knob developing crackling issues after only a very short time) and software.
