LG 27GL83A-B 27 Inch Ultragear QHD IPS 1ms NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible Gaming Monitor, Black

    • The response time is fast, visually the same as my other panel (Dell SDG2417, 144hz TN panel w/G-SYNC), but with far superior colors and contrast
    • but I guess having a 27in 1440p 144hz VA panel already spoiled me with nicer contrast, colors, and
    • But that brightness makes everything pop when there is stuff on the screen, and the contrast between white and a black box is nice
    • The major cons on both units: Poor color uniformity (sections of the screen are a noticeably warmer or cooler hue), mediocre contrast, some backlight bleed, and bad gray uniformity (dirty screen effect).
    • The picture looked like it had way too much contrast, making photo-realistic games look almost cartoonish
    • This monitor has washed out colors, poor contrast, low brightness
    • Although I wish contrast was a bit better for games and movies and had swivel to rotate the panel without moving the base
    • 1/2 star off for the mediocre contrast levels and lack of features at this price range
    • HDR On looks worse than HDR Off even after changing many settings.- Contrast is a bit disappointing, but it is better than the contrast on my ASUS VG248QE monitor I have used for 8 years
    • In games like Metro 2033 when going through pitch black rooms the IPS Glow, Back Light Bleed, and poor contrast become evident; corners of the screen will have what looks like white and orange clouds on them, the low contrast results in a Black Crush effect where most of the black content blends together in to a blob removing key details from the scene
    • Of course the rest of the usual IPS negatives are present such as poor contrast, but I knew this before selecting an IPS monitor over a VA monitor
    • The major cons on both units: Poor color uniformity (sections of the screen are a noticeably warmer or cooler hue), mediocre contrast, some backlight bleed, and bad gray uniformity (dirty screen effect).
    • The contrast is definitely not as good as some other monitors (weakness of IPS monitors in general) but not too negligible
    • Contrast is a little disappointing
    • There is pretty much no edge to the screen on this monitor other than the bottom, which is a stark contrast from my old monitor that looks just large and clunky next to this thing
    • Poor Contrast (compared to other IPS monitor)
    • off- feels slightly dull / low contrast in sRGB mode, but that’s probably just a combination of IPS and my lack of understanding of color spectrums.- external power brick with the plug fixed to the brick and a cord that’s not terribly long.- cable management is a joke, there’s a flimsy removable plastic loop you can put on the back of the stand which is ok for the video & power cable but useless for any other cords passing by like keyboard and mouse, since those would have to go up halfway just to bend and go back down
    • panel).Only drawback is the relatively poor contrast
    • n’t be an issue
    • but it is possibly not as bad as
    • Tl;dr: fantastic monitor monitor for colorful content, fps games, and photo editing but not for dark content like stealth games or dark (as in color not content) movies
    • I noticed this all the more on the monitor I’ve been using from work during the pandemic, as we work from home part of the time
    • the monitor is great, it works as it said it would with one problem
    • , I watched Skyfall (2012) on this monitor and in some parts of climax scenes in Bonds family home the orange glow was present enough to be distracting, also the Black Crush effect causes sections of the screen be so dark as to make some details hard to see
    • I use it for both gaming (Xbox One S) and work
    • n’t be an issue
