my older 2015 Macbook, I use the display port (not HDMI) for supreme resolution

HDMI will (If your monitor is working with Catalina at all) access to the proper available video resolutions (and use 60K) and it looks beautiful.

beautiful resolution and color... but do not try to use the monitor sound output to drive speakers - very poor - sound frequently pops and drops out
