think the fan is really necessary to assist in cooling the unit due to the Power Over Ethernet (POE) function of the unit and since I decided not to use this function after all, I will replace this unit with the non-POE version of it

The unit runs cool with very little heat produced

This unit is very easy to use and perfect for running POE and Non POE camera's.

; hence, no "P" on the model number and "fanless"...Don't let the 4 stars scare you away, if your situation warrants the fan and the distance from the unit is ample enough, then this is a great unit.

There is no fan, so the unit is quiet

The unit died after one month of use with only 4 IP cameras attached.

The unit was on a surge protector that was untripped, so not an issue with the power supplied.
