Finally by browsing the forums (using DSL modem to connect to internet) I was able to figure out how to do a hard reset and it works again (and performance seems restored)

It has a bug that prevents you from logging in to the manage page that can only be helped by doing a hard reset of your router and then start all over again with the set up.

I tried both resetting this router back to the factory condition using the Smart Wi-Fi website and also doing a hard reset using the router's reset button.

Now, holding the hard reset button for 5-15 seconds as stated in the manual has no effect

Most of the times, I could get it back to life with a "force reset" process... which by the way doesn't always work exactly the same way, so I won't bother trying to give the steps here
