I turned off the "guest" network, and switched the 2.4 Ghz to ch 9 instead of auto after I noticed poor performance due to neighboring routers on the same channel that the auto setting selected, other than that I did not change any settings on the router admin page.

Even though there was a very difficult period of unbearable poor performance, Linksys customer service came through, and after 2 weeks of perfect Wi-Fi, I am convinced that this is solved.
