Logitech Harmony Smart Control with Smartphone App and Simple All In One Remote - Black

    • The current way Harmony treats "smart home" devices is frustrating
    • Fortunately, I did get the head start, because I used that extra 10 minutes to add my Harmony account as a channel to IFTTT.If you're not using IFTTT, and you have any sort of smart device, you should put aside a half hour to
    • wonderful because devices work by wifi rather
    • wonderful because devices work by wifi rather
    • Now I have the device, the simple remote works really well and to be
    • Maybe the one I got was defected, I suspect it was, but it was the most finicky device I've ever seen.
    • That is, the hub sending a signal faster than the device is ready to receive it.
    • : We don't have much in the way of this as yet, but it can connect to many of the more popular smart lighting devices, such as Phillips Hue and
    • Also we can control smart devices like smart lights and can link to activities
    • The hubs is a good device, connected by RF to the remote and then driving the components by IR blasting that seems to be able to go around anything
    • I've added 7 of the 8 available devices
    • Negatives - Not a customer friendly set-up experience, my 4 devices took at least 2 hours to setup
    • My wife loves it because she doesn't have to think what remote works what device.
    • Device was powered down for about 2 weeks for a move, after the move it never worked the same.
    • I rarely have issues with it not controlling the devices I want it to
    • If you've used any smart home devices, you know the drill-- download the app, give it your WiFi login information, let it find your toys
    • Love this remote, my devices are so simplified now
    • So when I set up my A/C unit, it considered it an "entertainment" device since you can manually set up a "smart home" device
    • So, what if I told you that the Harmony Hub can make a lot of your "dumb" devices into "smart" devices
    • Yes, I know IFTTT is an issue as well, but this is strictly a review on the Harmony Hub - and I have to dock it a star because you should have the ability to add a custom smart home device as a "smart home" device, not an "entertainment" device
    • It can be a complicated and time-consuming setup but once you have all the tweaks worked out, it's an amazing device.
    • It's an amazing device, but setup is not as simple as the reviews would have one believe
    • The only downfall, is that you can only support 6 devices
    • It's okay if you have compatible devices but not everything works with them.
    • In short, there is a learning curve, but this is a wonderful device.
    • I know a lot of people have no issue setting up this device via
    • This device is much better than any of the other harmony remotes i have owned
    • - - 8 device limit.
    • The other devices are mostly more simple (a lot less buttons on their remotes) and intuitive-enough mappings
    • I absolutely love this device!
    • Some devices are better supported than others and a flat sheet of glass can't compare to a tactile physical remote
    • The device is easy to set up, easy to program and using your phone, and the web to initially set up it took about 10-15 min to set up a tv+DVR, +dvd player+fire stick.
    • The device itself works great
    • First step, take over my home with smart devices
    • Wow Such an amazing device that works will all my current media devices and Amazon Alexa Echo
    • This is an amazing device and works flawless every time
    • I just about lost my mind when it even had device functions like "Input Tape" and "Input
    • Pairing is really easy, just find your device's model number and put it into the app either on a computer or android/ios device
    • For devices that are natively RF, like the Shield and the Wii U, the system pairs up in a few seconds during initial setup, then works transparently afterwards
    • This couldn't be handled by the previous software which just had a configurable delay between turning a device on and sending it commands
    • This device is only usable in well lit areas
    • This device solves my number one problem with remote controls in general: Having to hold the controller in the right position to the IR transmitter can be received by all the devices, and hold it there until the programmed sequence is completed
    • If they are smart home devices, though, good luck
    • I cannot even begin to describe how brilliant this device is
    • I would highly recommend this device to anyone, and though it has a few quirks i think it may be one of the best Harmony devices, plus its a bit cool to show your friends that you can control everything with just your smartphone!
    • I feel like this device is soooo finicky
    • great product it has some glitches ,but easy fixable, works great with hub and smart phone can control your devices as well can control only up to 6 devices.
    • the Harmony Hub was designed to "learn" and be programmed to set up "entertainment" devices only, not "smart home" devices
    • But the other devices work fine without having to even point them.
    • Every button we click registers every time on the right device
    • The Hub concept worked in my enclosed cabinet, devices on 2 different shelves received the IR signal (receiver, direct tv dvr, bluray), and for my external devices (TV, xbox 360, apple tv) i used the included IR blaster
    • Getting each device to work with the Harmony is it's own experience , some are easier than others
    • The database found the devices I was trying to control (Vizio TV and Arris cable box), and "registration" worked (after an app reboot cause it couldn't find the hub any more after saving data), but nothing worked control-wise
    • This little device is amazing
    • Impossible to connect, two different techs unable to sink this device, even with Logitech on the other line
    • Bottom line is, if you are just setting up one device like a audio receiver; or two devices like DirecTV and a television
    • Supports all my devices (Samsung TV, Samsung soundboard, and Roku) out of the box.
    • Doesn't work very well compared to the usual harmony remotes, activities do not consistently turn the right devices on and off
    • Doesn't work very well compared to the usual harmony remotes, activities do not consistently turn the right devices on and off
    • Being limited to adding only eight devices seems like a forced limitation which for the price is absurd
    • Easy to integrate other smart home devices like Phillips hue and Nest
    • This is a great device
    • Worst device ever
    • I feel like this device is soooo finicky
    • It wont know the device is already on and wont work correctly
    • After I did it, then my device was connected to the system and worked properly.
    • Despite running all activities and counter checking my devices five times, this smart control doesn’t work: it turns on some devices within the sequence but fails to turn other devices one - for example, it turns on TV but fails to turn on AVR or Apple TV
    • Despite finding the appropriate devices in the initial setup, it can't even perform a simple activity like turning on my Vizio M80 and Cisco 9865HDC
    • Yes, there are only 3 activity buttons (but a long-press for each expands this to 6) and you can't directly control a single device (sometimes useful to get to setup menus), but for day-to-day use it's amazing
    • I also had problems with it turning all devices on
    • Then you set up the app on your smart device, which is actually pretty difficult to set up
    • It seemed hard to use even though setting up devices was easy
    • As you probably know, a window A/C unit is not a "smart home" device, and is not connected to the thermostat let alone the internet
    • This device is great
    • Have it sitting on my HT stand and has no problem activating all my devices
    • You can add them, identify them specifically as smart home devices, and teach them IR commands
    • and then it has trouble turning any devices on or off because of the duplicate scenes
    • Then This" - basically I use it to connect all my smart home devices that are naturally connected
    • That is the worst because you can't recover like on the old Harmony remote by just correcting the one device that didn't turn on or something.
    • I do wish the buttons were backlit, because it can be hard to control in the dark, but otherwise, a great device.
    • Great device and simple to use.
    • This was my first Harmony device purchase
    • The biggest disappointment is that with all the current devices being 5G capable, this thing is only 2G.
    • Being able to use one device to simplify doing several tasks in the home and to do it simply with potential future expandability is amazing, and at this price point it is excellent bang for buck.
    • but once you connect all devices its a pleasure to stow all the other remotes away :)
    • Looking to add another - works much better than my Harmony 600 series devices - more consistent and easy to operate
    • This was confusing, as I didn't understand why/what was happening, and I was about to conclude that I had a defective device, or the Harmony Hub wouldn't work with my other equipment
    • This device is the best you can do for off the shelf home control and automation in 2017.
    • Now the cons: if someone turns on the TV with the TV remote, the TiVo remote or any other remote, this device becomes worthless
    • But Harmony will still not treat them as smart home devices
    • The device and hub are nice, but the app is what makes the entire experience terrible
    • IE You can't change the remote to just control single "device" like what is possible with previous Harmony remotes (and current models with screens)*Remote doesn't have IR (only the Hub does)*Hard to program at first*Not the most intuitive programming for Activities, even once you understand the system*No backlight*Remote's buttons are almost flush so feeling out what to push
    • I got the control hub and put it in the closet and it controlled all the devices in the closet perfect.
    • Solid device
    • This device currently adds another layer of pain for users to support when something goes wrong, so avoid this if you are not technical.
    • It constantly disconnects even though it is 10 feet from my router which happens to be able to support 50+ devices and a 700 mbps connection
    • Maximum number of components is 8 - while most people shouldn't run into an issue here, it would be nice to support a few more devices, as this limit seems arbitrary in order to make the "Ultimate" look more attractive with 15 components.
    • the iphone app works very well in controlling all devices as well
    • It's great for controlling all your devices.
    • It also wasn't great controlling your devices.
    • Picked this up while it was on sale at amazon and its a pretty good device
    • The Harmony Hub with Remote Control is the most awesome remote control device
    • Other smart devices I've used, and even universal remotes I've tried in the past, didn't work as well as this setup does
    • Several of my smart home devices only work on a 2.4 GHz WiFi band, whereas others without the support for the older 2.4 GHz band only work on the 5 GHz band
    • Very convenient device.
    • Is it the most intuitive device to program?
    • Harmony you can access the other devices just by using the LCD, this remote does not have LCD
    • I cannot see where this device adds anything else in its current state to those older devices and it loses the ability to self-repair activities when issues occur
    • It's weird, but obvious once you realize that what you've just spent $80 on is ONLY a fancy IR Blaster device with a companion app, that the remote has dedicated buttons for DVR, GUIDE, and INFO, video control buttons like PLAY, REC, FF, RW, PAUSE, and STOP, but no dedicated INPUT button
    • Trying to do something as relatively straightforward as a device setup requires specific model numbers, or the install bombs out.
    • This device was easy to setup, works perfectly and I love it!
    • Using the remote to control the TV, AV Receiver, satellite set-top box, FireTV, ChromeCast, PC, and smart devices like Lutron smart light devices and Philips Hue lights has never been easier!
    • Doesn't work with the tivo device my cable company uses.
    • For a product that integrates your home entertainment system with the rest of your smart devices at this price point, incomparable.
    • This device was easy to setup, works perfectly and I love it!
    • it's a great device and very helpful if I'm doing something in the kitchen and have left the remote just out of
    • I think that is just a Harmony thing they try and get you to upgrade to a more expensive device.
    • So, what if I told you that the Harmony Hub can make a lot of your "dumb" devices into "smart" devices
    • Horrible device
    • No ability to control individual devices - a BIG negative.
    • However, I believe it can also be used to control "smart home" devices, and also works with Alexa
    • The blaster works like magic, somehow hitting all the devices, bouncing signals all over the room.
    • The devices are split across the 2 sides of the cabinet and there are 2 doors
    • If they work on the interface this would be a great device
    • The artificial device and activity limits are frustrating at times, but for the setup I use this on it works.
    • Great device
    • For the past 5 years I've struggled to balance having the home entertainment system that I want (using surround sound for everything, devices out of sight) with having a system that my wife can easily manage
    • I still had to write down directions because it wasn't as intuitive as I was hoping because of the delay and the fact that sometimes it will go to the wrong device, despite being programmed
    • It DOES work, and you need to set up the system from a smart device before everything will work well, but I've never been a fan of controlling my entertainment center like this.
    • This remote combo (hub/remote control) is the same as the more expensive Harmony Companion, with the exception that some of the buttons on the Companion RC are designated for smart-home devices, whereas all the buttons on the Smart Control RC are designated for home theater devices
    • All my other devices are just as easy to use and I was impressed with the level of functionality on my media center PC
    • The IR blaster hits every device in my system, perfectly... the remote works all over my house, I can run my system from any room, very handy for volume... very nice to be able to use the remote without having to point it at devices
    • It is a remarkably intelligent device that enables you to push (or push and hold if you choose) a single button and then change the functions of all of the rest of the buttons to be suited to the task
    • App is inefficient, requiring redundant, lengthy waits while it logs in and reconnects to Harmony servers and local devices after every change of settings-- Harmony remote state can get out-of-sync with devices if original remotes usurp device control, and there's no way to silently set Harmony to the new state without re-initializing the affected devices -- disrupting anything being viewed currently, and making my wife mad at
    • The versatility of the hub is incredible, you'd be hard pressed to find an incompatible device and you can program it from the original device remote anyway
    • And the devices sync very well.
    • Pretty good device
    • If this had backlit buttons, it would be the most amazing device.
    • While I had hoped to control my various smart home devices using this hub and controller, I was very dismayed to learn that this product does not allow the user to control smart home devices that are on different WiFi networks
    • (ex. inputs fail to change, devices fail to turn on/off, etc.)
    • Device support
    • This device is practically useless if you have any kind of streaming player or cordcutter situation at home.
    • Primary difference is that this device controls your system base off actions (watch tv, play games...) where the other devices work off the device your using (soundbar, tv, xbox...)
    • Their setup instructions aren't always correct, and customer service is not very helpful, either, so if you aren't comfortable playing with settings and Googling information on various internet forums, it's probably not the best device for you
    • My other devices work very well with the default configuration
    • My other devices work very well with the default configuration
    • That, and it also supports only 8 devices
    • The hub is a very useful device but it is seriously compromised by this remote.
    • Harmony lets you set up as many smart home devices as you want - they let you pick what the product is from a pre-programmed list (e.g. Nest, or Hue bulbs), and you add them
    • First off, the more they "dumb" devices down to work for "dumb" people
    • With a few minor improvements, it could revolutionize home theater/entertainment control the way Apple revolutionized mobile devices with the iPhone.
    • If you have an echo speaker, I feel like this device is definitely worth the cost, if not, I guess it really depends what you think is a reasonable amount to spend on a really advanced but ultimately just a universal remote
    • These harmony remote devices are getting much better these days.
    • If you have quality devices your trying to control, can follow directions and have some patience setting the device up, I believe you will find these remotes are quite remarkable.
    • So that's what you're paying a hundred bucks for, a device that enables you to:hide all your stuff behind a closed doorturn on the right devices and change inputs with one buttoncontrol your TV, Blu-ray, and Xbox with one remote
    • worked for about 3 months great then kept dropping the network connection rendering the device completely useless and frustrating
    • Unlimited devices would be an added selling point and help make the high cost more justified
    • For e.g. All my devices responded, but my cable receiver (which was a compatible device as per Logitech website) did not respond
    • I hate to give such a great device such a low rating, but I'm hoping it might get someone's attention at Logitech
    • Connects to devices very easy, and easy to manage.
    • The reason I'm giving it two is because one star indicates that I 'hate' the device and I still don't hate it.
    • Logitech will likely eventually and deliberately brick this device when they want to get you to upgrade, making it worthless and unusuable (see the discontinued predecessor, the Link)Otherwise the device could be great
    • All devices set up except I have not been unable to get the Roku to work correctly
    • Works great, but the arbitrary device limit grates and the UI for making changes is brutal.
    • Harmony found every device without issue
    • It does control some devices via WiFi like the Roku streaming
    • And the device works great.
    • The device has promise but it's crippled by its astoundingly terrible setup app
    • I mention it because of how Harmony treats "smart home" devices
    • maybe I got a defective device, but I bought two - on on a Sony TV with a ROKU stick, Apple TV, and Verizon FIOS Arris box
    • First off, the more they "dumb" devices down to work for "dumb" people
    • This device has the capability but is purposely limited by greedy Corporate goons
    • are useless and why do I have to turn a tv off and on to switch to Netflix?- integration with smart home devices is randomly different, for example ecobee would not allow you to select what thermostats you want to control and adds all of them, but Insteon is limited to single hub-
    • Too complex for what I was after - I'm not a fan of a remote that I can't simply point at a device, press that device's button, and control it directly
    • Also, this will work fro any Android device be it a smart phone or tablet
    • What’s most impressive to me is that based on which activity you’ve selected, the remote functions with the most appropriate device(s)... so for example the menu button controls my Fire TV when I’m watching that, but functions as the home button when I’m using my Xbox One
    • Logitech is constantly updating the available devices for this product, this will be a quality long term purchase
    • Finally found a user friendly remote that works the Amazon fire TV and our other devices
    • The hub also lets you control smart home devices like lights and thermostat (though I can't imagine why you would want to control a thermostat - maybe to chill the house for a scary movie?).
    • App is inefficient, requiring redundant, lengthy waits while it logs in and reconnects to Harmony servers and local devices after every change of settings-- Harmony remote state can get out-of-sync with devices if original remotes usurp device control, and there's no way to silently set Harmony to the new state without re-initializing the affected devices -- disrupting anything being viewed currently, and making my wife mad at
    • Now, this issue was a bit tricky because I have successfully setup other wifi devices through this convoluted scheme but 3 or 4 devices from various vendors have had issues
    • Either way, I strongly recommend this device!
    • it's a fantastic device
    • Other than that it’s really easy connecting devices and setting up activities.
    • I bought the device for my parents since they loved the last Logitech remote, but was rendered useless by my dear, sweet nephews
    • A/V enthusiast models.
    • And the fourth has been absolute hell because it won't recognize the correct I outs for a vizio TV.
    • I huess I could sacrifice one of the other buttons to accomplish what I
    • I love i!!
    • I've owned several Harmony remotes over the years, but this was the easiest and fastest I've set-up so far
    • For example, our home does not have a central air conditioning system, instead, we rely on a large window A/C unit to cool the house down
    • The R/C was very easy to configure by adding the specific components by brand and model
