Logitech Harmony Smart Control with Smartphone App and Simple All In One Remote - Black

    • This new Harmony was incredibly easy to setup, even though the 2 remotes use different software for programming
    • I've been using the Harmony Smart for almost a year
    • I've had a 'Harmony One' (Now Discontinued) for about 6 years
    • My last Harmony remote worked on a rechargeable battery and had to be recharged fairly often like every other day
    • I tell everyone that the Harmony Smart Control is the best remote control that mankind has and will ever invent.
    • Initially I wanted to go for the cheaper $70 Harmony 650, but I didn't like the fact that I'd need to keep pointing the remote at the TV until all actions were completely
    • So it was with great confidence that I picked up three Logitech Harmony Smart Control packages (at a Walmart closeout sale, sorry Jeff Bezos, a much better price).
    • This is my 3rd Harmony remote and we have loved the other 2 and we bought one for my dad and he loved it too
    • Much better than my far more expensive Harmony remotes from prior generations.
    • Harmony is AWESOME and this is no less.
    • Today I received an email from Logitech declaring that the "new Harmony Smart Control will effortlessly control all of your home theater devices with your own iPhone, iPad or Android phone or tablet."Don't believe that for a minute
    • I loved my previous harmony remote, but I wanted the coolness and convenience of configuring it with my smart phone
    • A powerful solution (Harmony Hub) with an almost frighteningly simple mode of operation (Smart Control remote) makes for a winning combination.
    • On this remote as well as on every harmony remote that works with the smart hub (at the time of this review) fast forward shares a button with the skip forward.
    • The best Harmony to date (and I've owned a bunch).
    • For a long time I've admired the Harmony remotes, and several years ago tried (I think it was a model 600) to make it work, but it just didn't seem to have the ease-of-use with all the buttons and the screen etc etc
    • The Harmony Smart Control replaced a Control4 unit that I had for 4-5 years, before the IR controller failed.
    • The buttons click when you press then letting you know the command has been sent, fits great in the hand, no need to plug in or place in a cradle to be charged (like my previous harmony remote its replacing).
    • However, this is a minor issue for me, since I like the Harmony
    • The Harmony Smart Control package includes a  Harmony Remote, a Harmony Hub which is the center of the new WIFI enabled Harmony series, and one IR Mini Blaster extender
    • Since my Harmony One was becoming non-responsive, I decided it was time to upgrade to a network remote.
    • Upgrade from no-longer-available Harmony One.
    • I now can use my fancy Harmony Controller instead of the boring A/C unit controller
    • The Harmony Smart Control handles them all perfectly.
    • Nonetheless, it also comes with an extra IR emitter on a good length cable, which can be used when your main components are in an enclosed space, yet you have other items outside e.g. TV.Consequent to a AAA battery leakage on my Yamaha amplifier remote and another on my Sharp TV remote, the replacement costs I was facing far exceeded the price of the Harmony Smart Control.
    • I was excited to reuse the channel buttons as page up/down buttons in the channel guide, but the Harmony isn't smart enough to know when the guide is in use, so my page up/down buttons had to be mapped to the long press, which means it takes a long time to make it through the guide
    • Also, Harmony has implemented gestures (one or two-finger "swipes" on the screen) to control common functions, like volume up/down, fast-forward, rewind, pause, and play
    • This is the only harmony product i would recommend.
    • I purchased the harmony smart remote through a third party and this remote beyond
    • Some reviewers have commented on the difficulty of setting the device up; however, as a former user of the Harmony 550, I have to say that compared to all the fiddling about associated with that device, the Harmony Smart Control is a breeze
    • After completing the basic setup, the activities were available and functional... though they did not seem to work as well as my old Logitech Harmony 610 controller
    • The Harmony will correct most problems on its own, or it takes you through a simple question process when something goes wrong (Harmony One or Ultimate)
    • I'll give it another half hour then taking the useless $250 Harmony remote as a hammer and smashing both into pieces.
    • So I decided to avoid the possibility of another cracked screen by purchasing The harmony smart control
    • I naively assumed that the Harmony Smart remote would allow me to do the same
    • The Harmony Smart Control is a great improvement over my old Harmony One, and after a little effort in the setup, it works perfectly.
    • Having been very pleased with this remote, I chose to stay within the Harmony family for my replacement and went with the Harmony Smart Control
    • I normally don't rush to review a product however i got my Harmony Smart Control set up last
    • I don't really blame Harmony for that, it's Sony's fault, but it's kind of annoying since my PS4 is basically my entertainment system, and I bought this universal remote to only control 2 devices
    • The Harmony Smart Control can send commands to the Roku via the wi-fi network.
    • But I really don't know if this failure is a Harmony problem or a Google Home problem, so I'm not dinging the Harmony hub for this issue.
    • I had a bit of time over the holidays and decided to upgrade my old Harmony 650 remote to the new Harmony Smart Control system
    • A few weeks ago the Roku wasn't being controlled by the Harmony Smart Control
    • If I could have added a Harmony 650 to the Hub, I probably would have kept it to have the best of both worlds, but most of the reasonably priced Harmony remotes are incompatible with the Hub
    • Bought to replace a harmony 650 that died after 4 years
    • Harmony recommends that you download their Harmony mobile app (free, for iPhone and iPad) and use that to set up and configure the Hub
    • Harmony's setup process is exceptional and this is where they really shine: 1) download the software, 2
    • I have an older"delux" Harmony smart controller in my theater.
    • Loved my previous Harmony remote.
    • For me, the reason it did not work is the following from the Logitech website "The Harmony Companion and Harmony Smart Control remotes do not have IR emitters and rely on the hub
    • This unit also allows you to control everything with your smartphone and the free Harmony app, but my guess is you'll much prefer the included remote.
    • The past couple of weeks I noticed that the LED had turned red and was staying that color and that the Harmony smart remote would no longer control my ROKU.Support for this device is 'virtually' non-existent.
    • There are important prep-steps you need do before you even start programming your new Harmony Smart Control.
    • The old Harmony remotes were great
    • This is my third harmony remote including a Harmony One and very happy with purchase !
    • In my opinion, Logitech should dump all the other Harmony remotes and just iterate on this device
    • I use a Echo dot (Amazon Alexa) in the kitchen, and have the Harmony smart control in the living room to control devices.
    • I originally purchased a logitech home hub (which i wouldn't recommend) and after a few weeks went to the harmony smart control
    • Like my other Harmony remotes, compatibility is no longer an issue
    • I would highly recommend this device to anyone, and though it has a few quirks i think it may be one of the best Harmony devices, plus its a bit cool to show your friends that you can control everything with just your smartphone!
    • I like the smart control aspect, but wish the primary remote was a little more like their other Harmony remotes
    • The Harmony remote works flawlessly and is easy to set-up
    • Now that I’ve completed the above task, I like this Harmony Smart Control.
    • Supposedly, Harmony is working on this, but I'm not holding my breath for it to work as well as I hope it would.
    • Good job, Harmony!
    • The Harmony 900's was defective on mine and appears to be a common issue.
    • I love using the small RF remote instead of the older bulky Harmony remotes with screens built in
    • I'll have to use the original remote controls or spend more money for the Harmony extender which cost more than the Harmony Smart Controller
    • I wouldn't recommend any Harmony remote for an elderly relative but most people can set it up easily enough if you can follow directions.
    • Thank you Harmony!
    • This Harmony Smart Control works with wifi, Bluetooth and IR
    • So do your homework; read the reviews to get a sense of confidence that the Harmony Smart Control will work with *your* devices and do what you need it to do
    • This means that when Mom comes to visit, or the babysitter comes over, they can figure out how to watch TV.The harmony smart control does both very well
    • Harmony physical remote omits numerous device controls (e.g., you can control the soundbar volume, but not its equalizer settings)-- Device states seem to be write-
    • I have an AV closet with my uverse box, Denon AVR, HDBaseT transmitted and the harmony smart hub (along with other items that superfluous to this discussion).Good- set up was easyBad- and this is the killer, it repeats the channel / volume commands (and others) way too often (both the amount of times it happens and the amount of commands it sends).
    • So, the Harmony Smart Control.
    • I've had my trusty Harmony 676 for almost ten years now, and use it daily as the main remote for my TV and DirecTV box in my bedroom
    • A disclaimer: I've only used the Harmony Smart Control system with a Roku Streaming Stick+, and it works very well with that
    • My Harmony 900 died and this is a surprising upgrade to that touch screen remote that I originally paid over three times the amount for.
    • Love the Harmony remotes.
    • Harmony Smart Control is a major evolution of the original Harmony universal remotes and takes it to a new level with WIFI, Bluetooth, home automation and smart phone integration
    • This would be pretty hard to resolve without a screen, but if you're a previous harmony user, just bear in mind that if someone comes in and changes a setting with the regular remote, the harmony will be confused and there's no "help" button like with older screen-based devices.
    •  Logitech Harmony Smart Control - BlackI've been a longtime fan of Logitech
    • The Harmony Smart Control also includes a very decent integrated, hand-held dedicated control, that also is quite capable of controlling your entire system
    • Recently my old Harmony One went missing.
    • In conclusion, unless you have a serious need to do voice control of your entertainment system I would recommend a basic Logitech Harmony remote that accommodates the number of devices in your system
    • I've been using a Harmony Ultimate One remote for a couple years and love it, but line of sight was always an issue at our house
    • This is where the Harmony remote truly shines.
    • I just received my Harmony and worked "hard" to setup all my devices on
    • I have set up this Harmony Smart Control to control a Samsung TV, Samsung Sound Bar, Amazon Fire TV, Dish DVR, and Sony DVD Player
    • That was the case with the Harmony Smart Control
    • I was nervous about this upgrade as we loved our Harmony 880 to death (literally) and we were afraid this one wouldn't live up to our expectations
    • The Harmony Smart Control is no exception.
    • Buy at your own peril, I'm going to request American Express get in involved and perhaps do a warranty claim on this piss poor attempt at "customer service".Hi Kenny,I understand your frustration regarding this issue with your Harmony Smart Control
    • So when I stumbled upon a good deal on the Harmony Smart Control and reading some good reviews, I figured I'd give it a go and see for myself
    • Instead of manually switching modes on a typical universal remote as you seek to control each device, the Harmony devices know what you need to do and switches for you, finishing with a set of controls that makes sense - volume controlled by the AVR, channels by the cable box, etc.)The Harmony Smart control solves the two drawbacks
    • The Harmony recognized all of my devices and that part works flawlessly
    • Upgraded my old Harmony 880
    • I just love Harmony remotes
    • The Harmony remote and the Harmony app still don't work
    • What in the world did Harmony do to ruin a very good product?
    • My Harmony was a problem from the start
    • Upgrading from my beloved harmony One remote, and was really terrified
    • Often the fix for that is to unplug and replug the HDMI cable, so I can't necessarily blame the Harmony for that
    • The Harmony will correct most problems on its own, or it takes you through a simple question process when something goes wrong (Harmony One or Ultimate)
    • I use my Harmony Smart Control to control a relatively simple setup.
    • Also, Harmony has implemented gestures (one or two-finger "swipes" on the screen) to control common functions, like volume up/down, fast-forward, rewind, pause, and play
    • I now can use my fancy Harmony Controller instead of the boring A/C unit controller
    • The Harmony Smart Control works on a 2.4Ghz wireless network and if your iphone or android phone is on a 5Ghz wireless network it can communicate with it as long as they are in the same network subnet
    • the Harmony Smart Hub worked 20% of the time, if that
    • For voice commands, I've added Harmony as an Alexa skill
    • This is the worst Logitech Harmony remote we have ever had
    • This model is the very best Harmony
    • It is pretty bad, especially given my expectations from experience that Harmony remotes are easy to set up.
    • I purchased my Harmony Smart Control from a local Fry's
    • All my electronics have been awesome with the exception of this Dissonant Harmony hub.
    • Well Harmony thought of this scenario
    • I think Harmony Smart Control is actually a great remote and easy to use if it works with your TV
    • This isn't just the best harmony remote
    • I found that the Harmony Smart Control solves the one big issue with the 650, having to point the infrared remote control at the media center.
    • My 3rd or 4th Harmony Remote and the best so far.
    • And with three kiddos, two of which just turned 1, we also needed something durable and/or cheap, and the Harmony Smart Control answered that too with its $30 replacement remote control units
    • But some other Logitech support stepped in and upgraded me to the Harmony Ultimate which works perfectly with my TV.
    • I saw the Harmony Smart Control on sale pretty cheap around
    • ErgonomicsThe Harmony 890 was comfortable in my hand and I liked the soft key programming functionality.
    • My first harmony remote was the Xbox 360 branded version up until some of the buttons failed years later
    • Now is just another crippled Harmony device.
    • The Harmony Smart Control can control things via WiFi, IR and Bluetooth; For example, it connects to my Nexus Player in my
    • After breaking my more expensive touch screen harmony remote, I could not bring my self to spend $300 on another
    • I have had previous harmony universal remotes which worked but their life is short.
    • It's also worth noting that the Harmony Smart Control cost under $100.
    • Logitech Harmony Smart Control + Amazon echo + IFTTT
    • My friend's 890 had failed buttons, my harmony 1000 had sticky buttons (not physically, software keeps repeating codes)
    • I have used Logitech remotes for several years, and bought this Harmony Smart Control to replace an aging Harmony One remote.
    • You can set up the entire thing from your smart phone or tablet using the free Harmony app
    • I got my harmony smart control in a reasonable amount of time connect it up and begin to configure it had no issue with initial set up.
    • I've read here that Harmony was having server issues.
    • No more putting the Roku and Comcast box where they will be visible by their or my former Harmony 650 remote - cleaner setup
    • So I have used Harmony remotes for the past 8 years or so and liked them a lot.
    • has been so quirky that I'm hesitant to blame the Harmony
    • I program the Harmony to control my receiver and other components and it works fine for a while.
    • I bought this to replace an older cheaper harmony universal remote which had broken after a few years.
    • *all* the steps in the setup/configuration process!Suffice it to say, the Harmony Smart Control with Hub has indeed proved to be the perfect solution to controlling my system
    • i Loved My Logitech Harmony, Smart Control
    • Having had Harmony Smart Remotes before, I was skeptical of one with a non-rechargeable battery, but since this is just a dumb remote for the smart hub, it has a great battery life (I forget when I changed it but more than 2 years.)
    • Worst harmony purchase I've made
    • The Harmony Smart Control was no different.
    • but for now I'll just do without this Harmony smart controller.
    • set up with a Harmony 650 control (pure IR - no WiFi)
    • I got the Harmony Smart Control when it was on sale
    • We've had the Harmony Smart remote for a year now, and we really do love it
    • I have had a few harmony remotes over the years, some more durable than others.
    • This was my 3rd Harmony remote and by far the easiest to set up, although I agree with those who say instructions are lousy
    • I love my "old" Harmony one which is excellent in all
    • Harmony has improved their product line significantly.
    • The Harmony Smart Control with Hub seemed like the answer because it handles both IR and WiFi devices, works with Roku, and it can be programmed from Harmony's vast library of hundreds of thousands of devices
    • Love Harmony remotes
    • I had the older Harmony 700 and it never worked
    • it comes with is super nice and significantly sturdier than other harmony smart models
    • This remote combo (hub/remote control) is the same as the more expensive Harmony Companion, with the exception that some of the buttons on the Companion RC are designated for smart-home devices, whereas all the buttons on the Smart Control RC are designated for home theater devices
    • the remote feels high quality and comfortable in your hand and because it uses RF with the plug you do not have to worry about making sure it is pointed directly at the TV with no objects interfering as you do with IR
    • On this remote as well as on every harmony remote that works with the smart hub (at the time of this review) fast forward shares a button with the skip forward.
    • I have included photos of the remotes as well as on my Lenovo tablet and even though it has a lot of options, most of them are N/A. To make things worst, the tablet and phone do not go into sleep mode when the R/C screen is open
    • Setup is complex, but fairly intuitive as long as you don't mind some trial and error
    • So I had to operate in the dark room and it sucks as it does not have light to see the keys and also keyboard
    • After a couple of firmware upgrades it finally started to work as it should.
    • I expect that things will continue to work as they do now and I won't need any IR repeaters to make it happen
    • The customization is the real strength, the little remote may look unassuming, but you can control what nearly every button on it does and configure it to work as you want it to
    • But I'd give the unit 5 stars because it works as it's supposed to,
    • Works as it should.
    • The buttons are labeled intuitively and there are several that you can program to work as you want them to.
    • Some of the buttons worked as you'd expect (changing volume, changing channels, accessing DVR or guide, etc).
    • An important thing to mention is that the more devices you have and how they work together will largely affect how complex the setup ends up being, as well as if you are tech savvy or not
    • One complaint, I feel like the hue integration could be improved as it doesn't seem to control rooms and is missing all of the lights on my bridge
    • I jumped on this when it was on a good sale in hopes of (a) primarily so that I could just really reliably turn on and off the whole system (!) without having to precisely point the remote (IR receiver on the TV is a couple feet away from other components), (b) in hopes that maybe I really could have just "one remote to rule them all" so to speak, (c) in hopes that I could use some Alexa voice commands with the system, (d) in hopes that I could also control my IR dimmer switch in the TV room, and finally (e) in hopes of making the whole system easier and more reliable for my wife as well as for myself
    • but it doesn't quite work as
    • Plugged it back in and everything worked as it did at the beginning
    • My understanding is that this feature allows you to add the names to your favorite channels for both hot buttons on the remote/virtual remote as well as for voice usage
    • The R/C was very easy to configure by adding the specific components by brand and model
