Logitech Harmony Smart Control with Smartphone App and Simple All In One Remote - Black

    • Also the software can be confusing with respect to Activity versus Device buttons
    • doesn't like Googleplay (which is where you have to go to get the software to make it work and prevent it from being a paper weight - expensive for a paper weight too)
    • works through a wall, programed ok though you need modern computer software to work it
    • The hardware is solid, but the software and documentation is poor.
    • The software is EXTREMELY slow/laggy
    • I had always felt they did a pretty good job, although the software was bonkers awful to use
    • I thought I'd try this one because all these years later the software must have gotten better
    • Shortly after I got the unit, Logitech engineers did a no-choice software update that split the screen
    • The software on the SmartPhone still needs some work - for example, when controlling devices you can't set up a custom screen and commands are listed in a random order - not very useful
    • The software was like a web-based wizard that ran in a java app so there were no keyboard shortcuts, no default values
    • The software, on the other hand, is an utter pain
    • and it's a bit of a pain to have to plug it into my computer and go through the clunky software to get it updated
    • Logitech needs to fix the smart control/app software.
    • The software is buggy, confusing, and cumbersome, especially the PC/Mac
    • The mobile software is good but could be improved
    • The software in the hub is also garbage
    • Artificial software limitations and bad software design make this Hardware pointless for Smart home applications just to money grab for more un-needed Hardware
    • I tired using the app and the very clunky desktop software on my PC and it manages only to turn on my TV, change the input on the TV but can't seem to power on the cable box
    • Software wasn't fast, but worked on the first round, and politely asked then correctly transferred all my devices and setup from the 900
    • Overall, I found the software cumbersome, difficult to use, and extremely limited for a product oriented to the more tech-savvy Home theater enthusiast
    • The software to set up this remote is terrible
    • The software, on the other hand, is cumbersome, to say the least
    • Set it up per the instructions, the software is a little clearer than with the Harmony 650, and so I had high hopes that Wirecutter might be
    • I hope you're already bald because you'll pull your hair out with how bad the software is
    • Returned because of too much reliance on bad software that simply didn't work
    • So, when I setup watch TV with my phone the Hub would change my TiVo into and out of sleep mode as it wanted to power down my Tivo [which is odd as the older software for the remotes never did that] which would stop any programmed recordings
    • The software is very rigid, forcing you into activities organized around devices.
    • I returned this unit a few weeks after Christmas, and honestly it's still hard to believe that such great hardware had so many silly, inexplicable software limitations.
    • The hardware is ok, but the software has many problems, and if I change anything in the start sequence I have to reprogram everything.
    • The software is horrible
    • Like most of Logitech’s products, the hardware is decent, but not great, and the software is terrible
    • I would advise anyone from purchasing this product until Logitech straightens out their software
    • Still five stars as I think it works great and hopefully logitech will keep improving the software.
    • I chose the software on my computer approach, and would highly recommend it.
    • CONS: Not backlit, tiny buttons, incomplete software, NOT UNIVERSAL control of Audio/Video devices
    • With a smarter understanding of how the devices attached to the Harmony work, Logitech could push hardware manufacturers to build better software
    • The software is easy to distinguish the two different hubs and works flawlessly compared to ir based remotes
    • Hardware manufacturers like Logitech are just constitutionally unable to produce decent software themselves and are unwilling to farm out the work to someone competent
    • The software is an absolute mess.
    • n’t recommend it
    • n’t find that skill, backup one huge step.
    • n’t scroll right or left, but instead press a corresponding number such as #3 for HDMI 3 or #6 for Component cable input
    • n’t work sir Samsung
    • the remote feels high quality and comfortable in your hand and because it uses RF with the plug you do not have to worry about making sure it is pointed directly at the TV with no objects interfering as you do with IR
    • On this remote as well as on every harmony remote that works with the smart hub (at the time of this review) fast forward shares a button with the skip forward.
    • I have included photos of the remotes as well as on my Lenovo tablet and even though it has a lot of options, most of them are N/A. To make things worst, the tablet and phone do not go into sleep mode when the R/C screen is open
    • Setup is complex, but fairly intuitive as long as you don't mind some trial and error
    • So I had to operate in the dark room and it sucks as it does not have light to see the keys and also keyboard
    • After a couple of firmware upgrades it finally started to work as it should.
    • I expect that things will continue to work as they do now and I won't need any IR repeaters to make it happen
    • The customization is the real strength, the little remote may look unassuming, but you can control what nearly every button on it does and configure it to work as you want it to
    • But I'd give the unit 5 stars because it works as it's supposed to,
    • Works as it should.
    • The buttons are labeled intuitively and there are several that you can program to work as you want them to.
    • Some of the buttons worked as you'd expect (changing volume, changing channels, accessing DVR or guide, etc).
    • An important thing to mention is that the more devices you have and how they work together will largely affect how complex the setup ends up being, as well as if you are tech savvy or not
    • One complaint, I feel like the hue integration could be improved as it doesn't seem to control rooms and is missing all of the lights on my bridge
    • I jumped on this when it was on a good sale in hopes of (a) primarily so that I could just really reliably turn on and off the whole system (!) without having to precisely point the remote (IR receiver on the TV is a couple feet away from other components), (b) in hopes that maybe I really could have just "one remote to rule them all" so to speak, (c) in hopes that I could use some Alexa voice commands with the system, (d) in hopes that I could also control my IR dimmer switch in the TV room, and finally (e) in hopes of making the whole system easier and more reliable for my wife as well as for myself
    • but it doesn't quite work as
    • Plugged it back in and everything worked as it did at the beginning
    • My understanding is that this feature allows you to add the names to your favorite channels for both hot buttons on the remote/virtual remote as well as for voice usage
    • The R/C was very easy to configure by adding the specific components by brand and model
