It was a great feature of the this mouse and Logitech removed it and kept the same model number which is extremely misleading to existing customers

It should have a different model number or at least be more up front about the missing functionality.

I have an older mouse with the same model number (but with logo above Logitech name on back of mouse) and all of the buttons work on Windows XP.

I previously purchased an M 510 from Logitech which I loved the first day, but after I realized that the mouse freezing during use (and needing to move it around frantically to get it to register on the monitor again) wasn't due to my PC performance, I pretty much stopped using it.
