Mackie Studio Monitor, Black w/Green Trim, 3-inch (CR3)

    • Hugely louder than similarly-sized computer speakers, and quite loud compared to even similarly-sized and priced bookshelf speakers
    • I gave them a 4 star rating because the bass, although not terrible, is weak compared to a 2.1 system
    • The sound is a little shrill compared to the Behringer B2030A's that I normally use, which are much bigger and cost about twice as much ($150 per speaker her on Amazon).
    • The Mackie CR3s were a steal at $99, I mean seriously 1/3 of the price! Now I can definitely tell the difference in the sound quality just a little bit, the CR3s are "slightly muddier" or "muted" compared to the KRKs in my opinion, BUT they still sound amazing and get the job done more than I'll ever need at... again
    • backward M-Audio.(3) The most important of all the sound is amazingly CLEAR and faithfully FLAT
    • I replaced some old M-Audio speakers that just died on me.
    • These units replaced a pair of 4" M-Audio speakers, which my 4 year old broke by experimenting with connections.
    • I use these for mixing music replacing my long-dead M-Audio monitors destroyed when my toddler punched the cones in
    • Like most studio monitors the CR3s benefit from a break in period as well as from proper positioning.
    • and then it should work as you hook it up
    • If you are on the fence on which size model to get I think I would recommend the 4" as they go down to 70Hz which I feel is an important low frequency not to ignore.
    • I'm sure basic users would be impressed as
    • However, these speakers don't handle loud volumes well, and whenever a louder than normal track was played or one with heavy bass, things fell apart again
    • The sound quality was still just as good as when I bought them and they never gave me any issues whatsoever
    • money- Cabinet made with MDF Wood instead of plastic- Great for gaming/ TV speaker upgrade- Flat frequencyCons- Not as loud as
    • These speakers have a clear and good high end, but lacks the lows (as to be expected from a smaller speaker)
    • This is annoying, especially if your best headphones are open-back- Half the time I use the speakers, theydo not work due to a really cheap L/R selector switch.
