Bright, clear sounds, and thoughtful design of the hardware
Loved the design so much, that I ordered it here to see if I would be satisfied with the sound quality
Worth the money, sleek design, A+ for the forward facing volume knob and aux/headphone input
Nice design , and i like how they connect to my soundcard
I really appreciate the thoughtful design - a large volume knob accented by a lit green ring (which is admittedly a bit garish), along with an auxiliary input jack and headphone jack right on the front
This is annoying, especially if your best headphones are open-back- Half the time I use the speakers, theydo not work due to a really cheap L/R selector switch.
Great sound for my computer and fair price and good quality
These are possibly the best cheap priced speakers you can buy anywhere
The price was great for powered speakers and produces good high quality sound
Such great sound, and overall apparently good quality speakers at a reasonable price
but lately i'm experiencing the "faulty L/R switch" issue others have mentioned
These are a great value and after looking around at cheaper speakers for my computer or using a Bluetooth system i really enjoy the purchase of these.
The only way to make it better would be to make it cheaper, but it's great value as it is.
However, these speakers don't handle loud volumes well, and whenever a louder than normal track was played or one with heavy bass, things fell apart again

This is by far the best set of speakers you can by in this price range
My six-year old set of Cambridge speakers were finally circling the drain
I was looking for a reasonably priced, good & neutral set of speakers
That gamble paid off, I was looking for a good set of speakers to replace my old studios speakers that were worn out
They sound good on bass too, but on the super low bass they aren't as strong as more expensive sets, but for a tiny set, these speakers rock! They look nice, too.
Very annoying and cheap, almost unusable nowedit: switch has gotten even worse
Solidly built, excellent sound, all the I/O options you need, they come complete with cables, sound insulating pads, and have a nice option to "flip" the powered side to left or right

The sound quality was still just as good as when I bought them and they never gave me any issues whatsoever

If you are on the fence on which size model to get I think I would recommend the 4" as they go down to 70Hz which I feel is an important low frequency not to ignore.
money- Cabinet made with MDF Wood instead of plastic- Great for gaming/ TV speaker upgrade- Flat frequencyCons- Not as loud as
I am glad the issue reared it's ugly head in the first hour

I can't even listen to them, it hurts my head after a few minutes

Had to knock a star off because about a year after I got them they died
The only reason they lost a star is because the subs aren't powerful enough
If they hadn't failed on me so quickly, I would have rated five stars.
I had many computer speakers before, including bose, boston, yamaha and they all base their sound on the small stereo tweeters coupled with bottom heavy sub, creating this U shaped heavy colored "modern" theater sound
These sound pretty good for the most part, but the left one has this absolutely god awful resonance buzz that occurs somewhere in the mid range if you turn them up very loud at all
They were great, excellent sound, smalls, powerful, but after a year and one month something fail and now if I turn them on, the only sound you can hear is a horrible buzz
Recently the powered speaker started sounding a little bit muddy, but that has progressed to an awful buzz
No complaints on build quality, and no buzzes or rattles
Seriously, if you are in an apartment, small room or small home studio, you will not need a subwoofer for these unless you hate your neighbors and roommates
The only complaints I read when I was searching for speakers was (a) They didn't have enough bass and (b
Definitely recommend these to anyone on a budget or in an apartment who wants good sound, but doesn't want to overwhelm the neighbors or housemates.

, etc.)For studio monitors they aren't completely transparent and don't have a razor flat frequency response, but if you already have good ears and experience with recording then these are great "B" monitors or primary monitors if it's for home recording and demos, etc
The green trim betrays a little bit that they are designed primarily for play back from a
On my set, the switch in the back is a bit loose, so it flips into
I wanted something smaller and a bit more intimate to put into my living room for listening upstairs
they hit well within and a little bit out of their league.
I was a bit skeptical about the overall sound that could be produced by such small speakers even after reading all of the great reviews...keep in mind we're talking about a little 3" woofer.
After contacting Mackie, they said they could not help me at all because mine set was the Limited Edition CR4
Preface:Let me preface this by saying that I received a dud pair of Mackie CR4 LTD Limited Edition 4" Creative Monitor Speakers
Solidly built, excellent sound, all the I/O options you need, they come complete with cables, sound insulating pads, and have a nice option to "flip" the powered side to left or right
Solidly built, excellent sound, all the I/O options you need, they come complete with cables, sound insulating pads, and have a nice option to "flip" the powered side to left or right
Had I purchased the regular NON Limited Edition CR4's they would have had a full 1 year warranty covered by Mackie
If you are on the fence on which size model to get I think I would recommend the 4" as they go down to 70Hz which I feel is an important low frequency not to ignore.
The sound quality was still just as good as when I bought them and they never gave me any issues whatsoever
The sound is a little shrill compared to the Behringer B2030A's that I normally use, which are much bigger and cost about twice as much ($150 per speaker her on Amazon).
These units replaced a pair of 4" M-Audio speakers, which my 4 year old broke by experimenting with connections.
These speakers have a clear and good high end, but lacks the lows (as to be expected from a smaller speaker)
The internal amplifier seems to have an overheating problem, and distortion creeps in after about 30 minutes of use

"Yeah that definitely sounds like the problem is the speakers.
They give great audio when they actually work right, but I've had a sever problem of my main speaker (the one power feeds into) overheating and both speakers beginning to buzz
I replaced some old M-Audio speakers that just died on me.
Only complaint is the white noise has gotten slightly louder with age.. not too bad at all though
My only complaint is that I am getting a loud "popping" noise whenever audio starts
My first pair were totally defective (constant loud white noise).

Lasts exactly three years - then the L/R selector switch goes bad and audio will cut in and out
I really wish i could give these bad boys 5 stars, but the manufacturer really skimped out on some capacitors, and left many consumers with the same problem: Either one speaker is louder than the other, or the switch to toggle between which is L and which is R is not well built, which leads to them not working
