Reviews around quality (5.00 of 5)

  • I was quite honestly surprised at the difference they make in providing true audio feedback with both mic'd acoustics and voice as well as with the acoustic-electric guitars and ukuleles and with the Strat as well
  • After reading all the positive reviews and watching reviews about the great quality these speakers are I decided to take a gamble and make a purchase
  • After a long search for great quality speakers I can use with my Xonar Essence STX II, I settled on these JBL 305
  • Even set at high volume and listening closely during silence, I detected none of the hiss or self-noise that some have mentioned, but I did use good balanced lines and a quality mixer as signal source.

  • I was quite honestly surprised at the difference they make in providing true audio feedback with both mic'd acoustics and voice as well as with the acoustic-electric guitars and ukuleles and with the Strat as well
  • Bring in the low bass with the even more impressive subwoofer 310s and you get crystal clear professional sound.
  • Crystal clear with superb imaging and frequency response
  • Crystal clear highs, strong smooth mids, and clean deep lows without muffle and mud

Reviews around mix (5.00 of 5)

  • I keep comparing these near fields favorably to my long-gone Yamaha NS10s; punchy, open, easy to get a good mix without a lot of fuss
  • I would not have trusted any mix I made on these until I had at least 20-30hrs of listening time on them.2
  • You want the mix to sound good on your studio monitors, stereo speakers, iPod earbuds, bluetooth speakers, vehicles and pretty much anywhere with some consistency
  • So the end result is that yes, your mixes will sound great on the JBL, but not translate well to other sources
  • You can spend a lot more and get objectively better performance in studio monitors, but if you can't make a decent mix with these, the monitors aren't the problem

Reviews around studio (5.00 of 5)

  • let me start off by admitting that by all accounts the Yamaha HS8s are "more accurate" studio monitors, and most direct comparisons between the JBL LSR308 and the Yamaha HS8s favor the Yamaha that I've seen
  • Ive also had the wonderful opportunity to track in a lot of awesome studios with AMAZING Augspurger monitor systems, even some costing around $300,000.With all of that being said I had to write a review on these little guys after having used them for maybe about 2 years now and these still blow me away
  • Overall, these are very excellent studio monitors with big crystal clear sound
  • The 5" JBL LSR305's are, by far, the best studio speakers I've ever owned
  • The idea is that if you produce your final product on proper studio monitors, they will give you a real world window into what you can expect it to sound like everywhere else

  • I will admit I am not the audiophile like some folks writing reviews on here, but I can say that after upgrading from a pair of entry-level Behringer Truth 1030a monitors, the noticeable different is night and day
  • After reading all the positive reviews and watching reviews about the great quality these speakers are I decided to take a gamble and make a purchase
  • couldn't resist given the glowing reviews and thought I give nearfiled monitor a shot
  • I think that most people who are giving these monitors bad reviews is because they don't know what they are buying
  • I've been rebuilding the recording rig in my apartment, so I decided to try a pair of these JBLs after reading positive reviews about their quality, value, and bang for the buck

Reviews around price (4.26 of 5)

  • but if you are a pro with well treated room or an average music listener getting your first good speakers ,the power monitor gives versatility at a very affordable price and would be a great value if you can pick one up for sale.
  • speaker is cheap, high c/p value, don't expect good assembly job get done
  • With that significant a price difference I don't think you can compare the 2 sets of monitors fairly
  • The JBL LSR308's truly are an awesome value at an affordable price
  • For playing and recording at home, I have been using a couple of small Behringer Ultracoustic AT108s which provide very reasonable amplification for smaller spaces at a very reasonable price

Reviews around value (4.26 of 5)

  • :Stand by what I said earlier about being a great value
  • For $250 a pair on sale with build in amp,it is a great value and most people would be very happy with it,but not trying to sound snobbish but the transparency and detail is lacking compare to
  • The JBL LSR308's truly are an awesome value at an affordable price
  • But if you need a decent interface at a great value, check it out; there are good reasons I chose the UMC404HD over the Focusrite Scarlett I had initially decided upon
  • speaker is cheap, high c/p value, don't expect good assembly job get done

Reviews around spot (3.86 of 5)

  • The sweet spot is huge and they sound awesome anywhere in the garage.
  • speaker is cheap, high c/p value, don't expect good assembly job get done
  • but they take too much volume to get to the sweet spot for the small space I currently have.
  • (don;t really need my sub at the desktop anymore) and as they say, sweet spot seems everywhere / neutral range.

Reviews around bass (3.78 of 5)

  • Very loud and powerful bass and beautiful clear treble
  • sure). The clarity of these monitors are simply astounding and the bass is phenomenal.
  • They are crisp, good bass response and reasonably flat across the range.
  • Although the frequency response reaches towards the low 40s, the bass did not shake the room
  • What's particularly great is the bass, which is shockingly good considering the size and price point of this speaker.

Reviews around response (3.75 of 5)

  • It took a few months of use to get some good low frequency response out of them but after they are broken in they have a nice clear flat sound.
  • They are crisp, good bass response and reasonably flat across the range.
  • The speakers themselves are lighter and have a good response range that do not required over extended EQ
  • speaker is cheap, high c/p value, don't expect good assembly job get done
  • They are utter garbage with awful response and monitoring ability

Reviews around monitor (3.35 of 5)

  • let me start off by admitting that by all accounts the Yamaha HS8s are "more accurate" studio monitors, and most direct comparisons between the JBL LSR308 and the Yamaha HS8s favor the Yamaha that I've seen
  • The idea is that if you produce your final product on proper studio monitors, they will give you a real world window into what you can expect it to sound like everywhere else
  • Although these JBL's are one of the cheaper monitor speakers on the market, they definitely punch above their level
  • The monitors do have a hiss, (which is un-fixable) but you can only hear it if you are within a foot or two
  • I purchased these monitors to replace my old 3" ones for better music production/mixing accuracy, and they absolutely blew me away when I first heard them

Reviews around jbl (3.22 of 5)

  • I seriously doubt you'll find a better pair of studio monitors for the price, JBL has outdone themselves again
  • The JBL off my computer/board (192K ripped) via optical to a Schitt Modi 2.
  • Im a loyal jbl customer as these are my second set of monitors in 14 years
  • I have a minor in Audio and Technology, and JBL was always a great recommendation, and I have no issues.
  • That makes it all the more tragic JBL screwed these up by using cheap, glossy black plastic for the front fascia

Reviews around noise (1.54 of 5)

  • That being said, there is a SMALL hissing noise when these are idling.
  • The hissing noise isn't really an issue unless you have no sound playing
  • And I do mean amplifier hiss (which you can't fix) and not ground loop noise (which you can but expensive)
  • A quick search online for "GPU ground loop under load" would list you the many cases where only during gaming, the speakers would start to buzz as if electrical noise is leaking into them
  • That was even worse--the noise was just as loud, but the signal softer.
