Deep bass, beautifully crisp snares, this Meinl Cajon is the first style I played, and I loved it so much I had to buy one, this was my replacement to another order of a CHEAPer Cajon.

I'm using a kick pedal with it for bass notes and a set of cajon brushes for a nice clean snare/slap sound.

If you keep your snares loose, you will definitely hear a bit of snare rattle while hitting the bass, something I see as a minor downside

Then by loosening all the screws on the upper front panel a few turns, I was able to get a nice, crisp snare sound as well

I've been messing around with my new cajon for a while now, trying to tune it just right, but with the particular one I received I cannot seem to get it to give enough snare sound before you start to just hearing twanging from the guitar strings

The pearl with it's fixed snares (look like broom-shaped snare thingies) sounds so much better out of the box that it's just not even funny.

these are okay for casual use, but the wood seems a bit softer than what I had expected, meaning that the claves don't sound as sharp as they should, consistently.

The sound is really good for live, as it's louder, noisier than the Schlagwerk, and has a bigger...looser, low end that many will love.
