I really thought that the harmonica would be a great size for little kids.
Perfect gift for a child, great size, and it is made very well!
it's a nice size in the hand, and seems well constructed, but compared to other harmonicas he's fooled around with, he has trouble making sounds at al with it, let alone fluid "scales" or music

My 2.5 yr old grand daughter is making beautiful music everywhere she goes
My two year old daughter loves this thing and it still looks and works like brand new despite her severe punishment in using it as a hammer in-between playing.
My daughter enjoys when we play it, but doesn't have the lung power to play it herself.
Even my one year old daughter can blow enough to make some noise!

That was by far one of her favorite toys out of everything that she received
After purchasing another toy harmonica that did not work, we were happy to get this one.
This is a terrible toy, it is difficult to play, requiring more air to play than a toddler can muster consistently.
My son loved it when I bought it when he was barely 3 now he's almost 5 and it's still one of his favorite toys.
I thought this toy would be great for my almost 2 yr old who always plays with her older sisters

It's almost identical to a classic metal harmonica, but it's plastic (and, therefore, cheaper).

Has anyone else noticed that the once-good-quality Melissa and Doug products have gotten pretty lousy
Melissa and Doug make many fine products, and I have purchased several of them here at Amazon
I guess they cannot make fantastic products all the time
But their harmonica is by far the worst product I've ever seen bearing their name
It disturbs me to think that this com, pany would manufacture a product so cheap that they would risk poisoning my daughter

Keep your cash and spend it on a real harmonica that your kids will actually use and love.
and it's not a good kids instrument -- it takes WAY TOO MUCH AIR to get tone out of it.

covers are cheap silvered plastic that start to lose their color almost immediately.
Cheap plastic, not actually metal, out of tune and nearly impossible for me to play, let alone my child
The cheap plastic has a silver colored coating that is coming off after only a few minutes of use
To my surprise, when I received the product, it ended up being nasty cheap plastic
but it's very flimsy and made of shiny plastic, not metal
