Story wise, you are Solid Snake, a rookie member of the elite unit FOXHOUND, your task is to infiltrate Outer Heaven, a fortress somewhere in the South African jungles, rescue fellow FOXHOUND member Gray Fox, and destroy the secret weapon, a super computer dubbed Metal Gear

Solid Snake starts off the game with nothing but his bare fists, radio, and he even managed to get his cigarettes

In Metal Gear you play as Solid Snake, a rookie to the Fox Hound branch of the military.

It's about Solid Snake who has to find and destroy the Metal Gear itself.

Bad Snake!I wish that 97% of the music wasn't the same theme song, but it's a decent/suspenseful one at least.

While not as detailed as Metal Gear Solid (PSX), the original Metal Gear is a game worth playing for fans of the series (to get to experience the origins of the story discussed in later games) as well as for fans of classic Nintendo game.
