Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 for Business - Wired

    • After removing the keycaps and letting it dry for another two weeks, many keys are still unresponsive
    • This has the convenient calculator, email, browser keys as well as the 5 programmable keys for opening frequently used programs.
    • keys and the angle and cushions are just right
    • Some things that I would have liked to have seen:*additional 6 key on the
    • The keys are soft and hit the letters smoothly
    • I love the media keys and the favorite keys!
    • The keys are REALLY LOUD, like those oldschool keyboards, and this is so wide on the right side that i find myself leaning to the right most of the day, to use my mouse
    • Fortunately, the aforementioned Mouse and Keyboard Center program allows you to disable that particular key, so at least I don't have to keep closing the stupid menu every time I think I'm typing "
    • The keys are quiet, but do require a little more push than I'm accustomed to
    • However, the keys are not soft and make lot of noise
    • Because of the placement of keys, I'm having trouble hitting the correct keys.
    • This "no man's land" means you need to unlearn using the wrong hand for the wrong keys because you will either miskey or just hit nothing when you go to use your right hand to it the G key (or a similar situation).
    • All other keys are soft and almost silent.
    • Those dinky keyboards that come with present digital equipment have the keys so dang close together that I often strike two keys at a time
    • My problem with it is that it's clunky, (and loud), and takes a bit more range to fully depress the keys
    • Let us have the function keys in booting so that we can get into bios, press the appropriate keys for dual boot and not have to worry about the state of the stupid Lock key.
    • The keys are easy to see, easy to reach and make it easy to sit for hours and work on a new chapter in my books or create documents
    • After a while you get used to the noise (it never goes away) and the key is easier to push.
    • I guess we use, or I use, the right keys more than the left
    • I like the texture of the keys, the layout is perfect and the keys are easy to read
    • Seems fine, all keys work smoothly no sticky keys.
    • When I finally figured it out (with help from yet another person), we realized the f-lock key was the issue and located it and toggled it back on
    • but it turned out that some keys were hijacked as hot keys for Dragon Naturally Speaking software
    • The keyboard works fairly well, but loses one point for not having a right-side Windows (Super) key
    • The keys are unnatural and I have to work to find the right key.
    • F-Lock key is in bad position, easy mistake it for F12 key
    • I like the extra keys and was sad to have to return it.
    • I'm currently looking for a nicer ergonomic keyboard with quieter keys
    • No sticky keys yet, and space bar easy to press after 11 month of heavy usage
    • I especially like the hot keys and the zoom scroll on the keyboard.
    • The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the space bar is noisy (loud) compared to the quiet letter and number keys
    • but then you lose the special function keys.
    • The keys are harder to press than I expected, and the keyboard is bulky
    • I think this new keyboard may be a bit of an improvement on the old one I replaced, not that the design has changed at all, but the keys seem a little more responsive, it's a bit "spongier" and less "clicky" sounding
    • The raised key, split keyboard does a great job of keeping my fingers relaxed and my wrist in perfect alignment while typing
    • Love this keyboard, very responsive, no sticky keys.
    • I had chronic wrist pain issues before switching to a curved KB, and the Microsoft 4000 has really nice, solid keys and a good feel to it
    • Spacebar does not go down as easy as other keys
    • The only thing I have worn out on this keyboard are the letter markings on the A, S D, and E keys...the keys still work well.
    • less than 3 months now and the "x" key has already quit working
    • Downside, the letters rubbed off the keys rather quickly.
    • If you think you will irritate those around you then look for a more expensive ergonomic keyboard that has quieter keys.
    • The keys feel a little cheap, but otherwise it's worked great and is comfortable to use.
    • It has handy programmable shortcut keys
    • If the keys were placed more like the Logitech WAVE it would be awesome.
    • I have no sticky keys or ones that are slower response than others which are both problems I've had with other brand new keyboards
    • I like having the extra function keys at the top for speaker volume and mute, plus some hot keys for email, a web browser, and other functions.
    • I like the key
    • On top of that, the keys were not as quiet on the new one.
    • The old keyboard was showing some signs of wear, and some important keys were sticking
    • I'd adore this STUPID keyboard if it didn't have the buggy keys and if it were not so vulnerable to moisture
    • The "bend" in this keyboard is significant, and it will take time for your fingers to get used to hitting the right keys on a consistent basis.
    • The 2nd replacement keyboard I received works fine regarding the special keys....but the # 6 key only works when hit very, very hard
    • Not as soft keyed as I had hoped but otherwise good.
    • I love the quick keys on this keyboard.
    • The keys are just SO LOUD, i would not recommend this to anyone who might take notes while engaging on conference calls, even with a headset everyone can hear you typing.
    • The wireless I did not like the F keys at the top, too small, this keyboard has a good size, even has a row of shortcut keys, which I do not use except for the calculator
    • I like the 10-key number key.
    • Just wish that someone would make a raised key, split keyboard accessory for the iPad
    • I have used Ergonomic keyboards now for several years now and when my old 4000 developed a defective key I replaced it with a like item
    • It has all the hot keys you could ever want or need.
    • My typing speed was terrible, I was pressing every wrong key, etc
    • It is so comfortable to use and the keys make very little noise when using it.
    • great ergo keyboard, just wished the keys were not so loud!
    • The other keys are fairly smooth and quiet but the space bar is VERY ANNOYING.
    • Additional keys above numpad keys, very useful for those who use calculator a lot
    • This keyboard has some favorite keys you can set
    • While it lasted, the keys were like butter, and the shortcuts were fabulous, but my company can't afford to purchase me a new keyboard every year.
    • Every key I hit would type in something else, like macros had been assigned to every key
    • It's ok...works well, but the keys are not as easy to find and my old one.
    • The second unit I have now came with the F2 and F3 keys not working, but I use it on a mostly gaming/entertainment PC, so it meets my needs
    • I’m a keyboard shortcut freak and having the right-click key next to the space bar is very handy
    • The pain was intense but since I bought this key the symptoms eased easily by 70%
    • soft keys and lots of features
    • I like the 10-key number key.
    • But for someone who's been typing/keyboarding for 50 years, I'm having an awful lot of trouble hitting the right keys
    • The keys are stiff and somewhat hard to press, and the added strength needed does leave my wrists sore by the end of the day
    • First lost the "enter" key, then the "c" key, so I just ordered another.
    • Second time I've had this keyboard, second time keys just crapped out
    • At first the keys continued to function, then slowing I loose functionality
    • The keys are hard to press.
    • not a single bad key, and none of the markings have faded
    • I really enjoy the additional keys that are available on the top
    • The keys are relatively quiet and responsive.
    • After about 2 years of intermittent home use, the decimal key in the numbers pad has stopped working
    • Black keys with thin white typefaces might seem sleek and stylish, but those of us who have work to do have much different priorities.
    • I was pleasantly surprised to find that this updated version has quieter keys (including the space bar).
    • The keys are a little noisier than what I would like, especially the space bar which requires a heavier push
    • my particular Sculpt keyboard just had a poor T key and most of them don't since the product has more than 900 good reviews on Amazon
    • The keys are super mushy
    • Love this keyboard, very responsive, no sticky keys.
    • No sticking or bad keys
    • The keys are not great to press and the spacebar key seems to be horribly designed
    • I cleaned it with the electronics duster spray and took the key off to clean underneath with no luck.
    • The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the space bar is noisy (loud) compared to the quiet letter and number keys
    • All the grey keys on top (Outside the 1-5 buttons, they work in Linux just fine)
    • The keyboard is large - the individual keys are well placed and work well
    • One key, the /? key, doesn't even work with a simple touch, so I often have to backspace, and hit the key again
    • I know where the keys are anyway but my wife has trouble when a few keys aren't labelled!Update: changed it to 1 star - keyboard keys completely unreadable, still within warranty period.
    • you're like me though, and it's your first time using an ergonomic keyboard, be prepared for a day or so of not being able to hit the right key, and lots of spelling mistakes for a couple of days
    • The numeric keypad to the right is a must for me, and it has a lot of other useful keys in addition, like volume controls, the Windows menu key, etc.
    • The previous one also got many bad keys
    • The keys are unnatural and I have to work to find the right key.
    • I did pry up the "y" key and found out that the issue was that the pressure point for the membrane was off to one side
    • While these keys are not as crisp, the keys do have a full vertical range of motion, and they do make a fair amount of noise
    • There is no way to program my function keys to work as function keys even with the software that is downloaded.
    • I killed one of these keyboards a few years ago with about 1/3 cup of water spilled into the F1 through F5 keys and I lost the "4" / "$" key, which is NOT awesome for someone who codes
    • I like the divided keys and easy on my wrists
    • Let us have the function keys in booting so that we can get into bios, press the appropriate keys for dual boot and not have to worry about the state of the stupid Lock key.
    • The keys are quiet and smooth
    • The keys are quiet and smooth
    • No stuck or intermittent keys
    • Because of the placement of keys, I'm having trouble hitting the correct keys.
    • The special keys all work out of the box with my Windows 10 machine.
    • Comfortable with well-positioned keys with a good return and feel
    • but the dead keys still didn't work
    • The keys are REALLY LOUD, like those oldschool keyboards, and this is so wide on the right side that i find myself leaning to the right most of the day, to use my mouse
    • Also, initially the keys are fairly quiet, but it doesn't take long before they're quite noisy
    • The keys are quieter than the retail version, though I liked the sound
    • I keep hitting the wrong keys
    • The 1-5 favorites keys are some of the only shortcut keys that can't be set to a
    • It helps with some of my wrist pain but the keys are soooooo loud especially the space bar
    • The customization is excellent and many programs can be opened with the 1 touch hot keys
    • Only drawback is the keys seem a little stiff.
    • Some keys just died.
    • It has a good bend, sits up high enough and I like the bigger keys.
    • It works fine most of the time, however, sometimes the top keys do not work if not tapped quite strongly.
    • And the "command key" or the "right-click key" on the bottom right, in between the Alt and Ctrl key
    • Download the Microsoft app for the product and it works very well for programing the keys.
    • but the favorites keys
    • Overall Good keyboard with useful shortcut keys,
    • Uncomfortable, also the x key was inoperable.
    • The keys were a little sticky at first, but they worked in and keyboard functions great.
    • It's comfy, but the keys are not very good.
    • I had chronic wrist pain issues before switching to a curved KB, and the Microsoft 4000 has really nice, solid keys and a good feel to it
    • The keys are difficult to press- if you're not pressing straight down on them, they will be very difficult to press.
    • The keys all work but the letters are gone.
    • My only complaint is that the keys are somewhat stiff
    • Then your F keys will work as expected.
    • The keys are definitely harder to push than my Kinesis keyboard that I bought for my laptop, so that's a bit of a drawback, but I probably wouldn't notice if I wasn't hopping back and forth between computers
    • If you have grown used to the new skinny keys, this thing feels like a dinosaur.
    • The keys are easy to push and this is very important to me as I have rheumatoid
    • Admittedly, they're a little awkward to use at first because of the split keys and the tilt of the keyboard, but you'll get used to it very quickly because the posture is so natural
    • I had spilled coffee on my old one, this one is really great on the wrists and makes it easier to type, not having to look at number keys in particular.
    • The shortcut keys (the silver ones at the top and the row below it) don't always work, and the scrolling toggle in the middle doesn't work.
    • Also love the programmable hot-keys
    • The keys are a bit sticky so good typing form works best or you will miss a letter, the reason for the 4 stars.
    • oh um the keys could be quieter or I just type really hard and loud.
    • I really have to strike the key very hard to have the "N" letter show up consistently on screen.
    • I was happy when it arrived: works great, feels good, useful shortcut keys
    • I could do without the multi use keys across the top but pretty much just ignore them
    • But the one I bought on Amazon only lasted about 1 1/2 years; the 'O' key stopped working, and just one defective key can render a keyboard useless
    • It's the same keyboard, but the keys are SO much easier to push on this most recent ones.
    • The first couple I got really felt like they needed to be broken in, the keys were a bit stiff.
    • The keys are pretty stiff initially (especially the space bar -- you really have to hit it to get it to register at first), but loosen up nicely with use
    • The wrist pad cover begins to disintegrate, the numbers rub off for the high-use keys, and for some bizarre reason the last two I owened have have problems with the number 6 key (both required a very heavy hit to get it to reliably work). For 40
    • It is extremely well made and has quiet and very nice and responsive keys
    • The keys are too stiff.
    • The keys were a little sticky at first, but they worked in and keyboard functions great.
    • I hate the raised center and different size keys
    • Its no longer usable because somehow the keys just type whatever letter they like when pressed
    • Initially, the keys were much quieter, but they have become louder...especially the space bar
    • The removal of the right side Windows key results in either a very awkward spread of one hand to hit the left Win key and L, a two-hand touch to get both keys if your hand isn't big enough for the one-hander, or you forgetting to lock your computer, though you made the one-handed motion that ends up pressing the rarely used menu key
    • I struggled for decades to hit the right keys with the slabs of ham I have for hands, constantly hitting two keys at once, and getting utterly lost on the keyboard every few keystrokes.
    • Horrible keyboard, you have to hit hard spacebar to get registered, all the keys are very stiff.
    • Seems like the keys have to be stroke with force for it to work
    • The all black keys on all black background make it very difficult to see the keys.
    • I still own one of these that is probably over 10 years old and it still works but the keys are getting noisy
    • I wish I could saw off the number key.
    • What is with the sticking/clunky space bar and other keys
    • Now the "E" and "L" keys are messed up.
    • The reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is that the letters wear off pretty quickly -- I've already pretty much obliterated the E and
    • The y, u,i and o keys stopped working after 1 week.
