• Reviews around antenna (4.28 of 5)

    Midland 75-785 40-Channel CB Radio

    • Best to get a better antenna with it.
    • Even for a handheld the antenna is too weak
    • First of all, the stock rubber ducky antenna is no good for anything but the shortest range communication
    • Very poor performer even with an adequate antenna
    • Hopefully a external antenna will improve reception
    • I bought a better antenna at Radio Shack and it still did not pick up signals from over a hundred yards away
    • Needs a outside antenna to work effectively in a auto or truck
    • If paired up with a good, solid antenna you will see a dramatic increase in range
    • The stock flexible antenna has no range whatsoever - it was near impossible to talk to someone two cars away using this.
    • For an example of this type antenna look up the Midland 18-2442 Mobile CB Antenna (again, no endorsement). In conclusion, I would recommend the Midland 75-785 CB to friends without hesitation.
    • Handheld antenna is a smal twist off type
    • This radio is good for the price I recommend that you get a better antenna for it but its good for talking to another handheld or a car unit.
    • I ordered a stronger antenna and I hope it helps
    • Basically, if you want this radio to perform well in a car, you will need to hook it up to an external antenna, like a Wilson or a Firestik... that stock rubber ducky antenna isn't going to work well inside a car made of metal, absorbing RF
    • I would recommend the Cobra antenna as an add on.
    • The antenna could have been longer like the President Randy model so that the range could have increased
    • But the good news here is that range will GREATLY improve with a better antenna
    • To get maybe a 30-40% additional improvement in listening & sending attach a telescopic antenna (unit comes with a fixed length/flexible antenna commonly referred to as a 'rubber duckie.') such as the Cobra CB 'HA-TA' telescopic antenna, available from Amazon (no endorsement).4.
    • This radio has some kind of proprietary antenna connector that will NOT ACCETP THE MIDLAND 18-
    • I purchased an antenna for the car so it would work better.
    • Get a dash mounted CB and a good antenna.
    • I have seen 12v car-type 40 channel CB Radios for half the price that may be a better choice at home if you have 12v power and a portable antenna available at home.
    • I like it it works well when I am out of my 4x4 and directing the guys, I can communicate just as good as in my jeepbut range is just ok (compared to my fixed unit...duh)
