It is no powerhouse but with a good, name brand antenna you should be able to transmit a few miles

Was really interested in this as it could be used as a hand held or mobile unit, as I could have a window mount antenna on the second car and not worry about trying to figure out where to install the huge mobile unit on a sedan.

When used as a mobile with a roof top antenna it is just as good as one mounted under the dash.

To increase your range beyond what the included flexy rubber antenna will provide, it's highly recommended that like with every other CB radio you use a CORRECTLY INSTALLED external antenna.

It's important to note that the external antenna connection does not work well unless the portable antenna on top is removed and replaced with a BNC terminator.

Nice to have in emergency, bought it to bypass hardwiring a cb into a truck, the only problem is the range is almost non existent, you need a real cb antenna to get any real Use from it, if you put a good antenna on ot though it's a great little radio
