In a flat terrain city area with houses and trees I get about 1.5 - 2 miles of talk range from my 75-822 with a matched 30" external antenna on my car using the provided DC power plug, as tested in measured distance experiments with my son in his car with his CB.The pluses - this unit has several nice features that typically aren't included on lower priced entry-level sets.
