RouterOS is the trademarked Linux based firmware which is found inside almost all MikroTik smart devices

The benefit is an amazingly capable device, at an amazingly low cost for the function

If you wanted a lot of ethernet ports, and a basic router, and didn't change much but the default password, it is possible this is a good device for a typical home user

If you are having difficulty configuring your device, and do not understand Linux firewalls, the online community may not be very helpful

But as long as you know what you are doing, this is a great device
