We liked the kettle when it arrived but after only 7 weeks the lid no longer open by itself when the button is pushed

Then in September the lid hinge seized and broke, again as many reviewers have noted.

This is the second Miroco hot water kettle that I have purchased in the past 1/2 year, and both have had different but faulty lid mechanisms, that started having problems with the first 1-2 months of use.

Unfortunately, after about six months, the lid of the kettle broke off for no apparent reason, and the kettle no longer retains heat very well

After 3 months of use it started to smell badly like burning plastic and the lid is almost impossible to open

The lid is made cheaply but the rest of the kettle is wonderful.

However, the lid stop working when I press down to open the lid open, the current solution poke a chopstick thru the gap before the top where you pour the water in order to refill water.

The lid has a button on top to open the unit and it only works sporadically

I'm old school and prefer a manual lift lid

It has some great features but a VERY poor lid design

I don't know if I got a dud or if it's just a bad lid design

The product works well but the lid stop working after a month of use

Now the lid seriously leaks when pouring water from the kettle

After boiling the release mechanism to flip the lid open did not work due to expansion from heat

Big opening so easy to clean, 304 food grade stainless steel tank and lid, no water contact with plastic

Stopped after 6 months, and lid could be difficult to get to open.

The second one has a flimsy lid at the start

But the freaking lid was designed by a stoned teenager....

so I feel I have gotten my money's worth but the lid is just a little bit annoying.

The only small issue I am having with is is the lid that does not open with first push of the button.

You want an easy opening wide lid to make filling and cleaning the kettle easy

And the cover/lid leaks steam which prevents the machine from shutting down, not to mention the hot water leaking from the lid when you pour it out.

just be careful not to damage the lid or the hinge

After a few uses, the lid became difficult to open

The lid on this kettle was faulty from day 1

In the meantime, the "sticky" lid is caused by a spring latch that is a bit touchy, it's not getting worse as I feared it might, and I have learned to open it more readily by lifting up on the lid as I depress the latch control

Normally water does not touch it, but I've found that condensation gathers all over near the pour spout and top lid, including on this plastic latch.

When the lid button is pushed, the lid doesn't pop up like I think it should

I would set the temp to 195 and it would continue to heat to 210+ degrees and the lid would jam shut more often than it would open

Basically the lid broke off - and upon closer inspection we learned that the lid hinge was made of a thin piece of plastic which is directly in line with where all the heat is going each time the kettle boils

I was concerned with other reviews saying the lid sticks but no issues whatsoever.

The biggest issue was the lid; you press the center to release the lid.

Tonight, at the 7 1/2 month mark since purchase, the lid completely broke off

The lid also started to leak around the lid edges when pouring boiling water

Either make a reliable, time tested lid pop up, or stick to something basic like a simple lever to open the lid

No issues with the new product and the process to exchange the faulty kettle for the new kettle was seamless.5 stars for the product & customer service...removing one star for the hassle of needing to go through two faulty kettles before receiving a good one.-------------------Lid is flawed.- First kettle: Lid stopped opening after first use.- Returned product through Amazon and received a new one - no problem.- Second kettle: Everything was great for about three weeks...and then the lid stopped opening

It is easier to fill, although the lid is somewhat restricting

This kettle workd fine for a while, then the Lid got difficult to open, Eventually after 10 months the lid completely fell off.

They also assured their R&D team inspects returned kettles, and they are taking immediate action to improve the lids.

The lid is difficult to open and when pressing the center button it does not pop open but requires you to press and pry the lid up.

Lid broke after less than a years use.
