Moleskine Art Plus Sketchbook, Large, Plain, Black, Hard Cover (5 x 8.25) Sketch Pad for Drawing, Watercolor Painting, Sketchbook for Teens, Artists, Students

    • Their smooth, creamy paper is marvellous for pens, pastels, graphite, charcoal, etc
    • I prefer the thicker paper so that my pen (writing utensil of choice) doesn't bleed through
    • Lovely paper and all
    • The paper will not bleed into the next because it is thicker and high quality
    • well so you don't have extra paper and whatnot falling out
    • I hope Moleskine goes back to its lovely cream-colored paper
    • It's relatively smooth paper (again, not great for watercolor and you can easily start scrubbing off the first layer of the paper with anything heavier than a light wash) and it sucks to erase on
    • The paper is great (seriously fantastic paper in this one, unlike some of their other notebooks) quality, the folder in back is a nice touch, and the cover is decent (it's a very thin vinyl over card stock in case you were wondering).
    • Moleskine uses great mix media paper in their journals that doesn't show thru the other side and is heavy enough to use multi medias on
    • LOVE the size and the hearty paper within
    • Top quality vanilla colored paper.
    • It's light, thin, has enough paper, and the pages lay almost perfectly flat
    • Supple drawing paper that loves pen
    • The paper is actually YELLOW, not like a mustard yellow, but the chemicals that they use to treat the paper gives it a very obvious pale yellow tint to it, and if you erase to hard then the yellow actually comes OFF of the page on the eraser shavings, and you have an ugly white blotch on your paper
    • Handy size and good paper quality, though I'd prefer a little more tooth on the paper surface for a sketchbook.
    • Good quality paper, not too thin or thick, with a small tooth.
    • Good paper for sketching
    • Paper is not as good as before
    • The con to me is I love stillman and birns paper and other artists have their fav
    • The paper is good and can be used for anything on earth or in the sky.
    • Nice thick paper
    • It wouldn't be so bad if all the paper was like
    • Top quality paper and binding.
    • IT took a while to get here, but the book is great, nice size and the paper is perfect for sketches
    • I found the paper to be bad in mine:1
    • All-in-all though it serves it's purpose and it even has a paper pocket on the back inside cover, great for keeping business cards or other papers in!
    • The sturdy pages rock, and I always utilize the pocket inside to hold inspiring paper treasures
    • Cons: Heavy paper, hard cover, and the perfect size to fit in my back pocket
    • It will, however, warp the paper (that doesn't bother me)
    • The paper in this journal is perfect for all sorts of markers or pens
    • Moleskine Hard Red for Art would be a decent sketchbook for those who want something that could easily fit into a satchel and has surface that is smoother and more rigid than stereotypical sketchbook paper.
    • I love the paper inside the Moleskine sketchbook!
    • very nice paper and a hardcover well finished
    • Paper is nice and smooth, although this is not for heavy marker use
    • but still like a heavier paper.
    • Great paper quality
    • Nice Nice Nice!Thick, high quality yellow paper
    • and I know plenty of people that don't like moleskine because they want thinner paper or rougher paper, a different color or format,
    • If you like bright white paper do not get this sketchbook but I enjoy the feeling the cream gives my sketches
    • I'd go for the Leuchtturm Plain Notebook over the Moleskine since it has it has some much better Paper stock for Drawings, no annoying oily cover, and is 1/2 inch wider than the Moleskine.
    • Paper holds the ink well and the book has a solid feel to it.
    • This is just a warning if you do not like yellow / cream paper because I have not seen many people talk about this
    • I've ever owned.+ no middle coil holding the pages+ when opened, the pages lay perfectly flat+ nice thick paper that works well for pencil and inking+ build quality looks and feels well put together
    • but the paper is harsher
    • Awesome, thick paper that takes well to most any medium
    • Great for journals....nice smooth paper
    • the only bad thing is that the cover easily scratches and when you erase the paper, it discolors.
    • This book has amazing paper, it is the perfect thickness
    • My daughter said this us good paper to draw on.
    • Honestly, the paper isn't great, but moleskines are bound really well and this is at a convenient size
    • The paper is thick and very smooth, almost like card stock
    • The paper is very smooth
    • I am really enjoying the paper
    • I'd go for the Leuchtturm Plain Notebook over the Moleskine since it has it has some much better Paper stock for Drawings, no annoying oily cover, and is 1/2 inch wider than the Moleskine.
    • i'll still give this three stars, because as far as pencil illustration goes, this paper is great, but, unfortunately, as far as ink writing and ink drawings go, this paper is TERRIBLE
    • Very well made, very sturdy, the paper is great and the size is just perfect
    • This is the right size to slip in a bag, the paper is heavy and has a nice texture, the pens do not bleed thru
    • It has very heavy, creamy smooth paper, much heavier than the Moleskine blank journal
    • The paper is magnificent, smooth and has a nice yellowish tint
    • Very sturdy paper
    • Alcohol markers and even light ink washes can abuse the paper
    • - are nothing special at all and can be found on much cheaper sketchbooks (while the latter usually have more useable paper)
    • i'll still give this three stars, because as far as pencil illustration goes, this paper is great, but, unfortunately, as far as ink writing and ink drawings go, this paper is TERRIBLE
    • I used this book for a drawing class because I liked the high-quality paper.
    • Acid free, heavy-enough paper.
    • I love the design so much and the paper is great for Micron pens
    • If using mixed media on your sketchbook, Gesso your pages first as the paper will curl/warp if you do not
    • Moleskins are some of the highest quality sketch books I've used , nice thick waxy paper , sturdy backing and in a lovely portable size with a nice strap to keep it closed and another to mark you're page
    • The good news is that the "new Art Plus Sketchbook" is the good paper you are used to.
    • very wellThe wet media for my moleskine doesn't take to the paper; it actually beads up as if the paper is waterproof (also similar to the effect when you leave an oily fingerprint on a surface and then try to watercolor over it)It is not a pleasure to draw or paint in because the paper just doesn't take the mediums well
    • I have learned over the years that if your going to spend hours and hours on your art then it has to go on good paper in order for your art to look good
    • The paper is nice and heavy, a bit smoother though than I am used to, but this was my first moleskine sketchbook.
    • All the previous sketchbooks I've liked had a bit of a textured surface and the paper in this Moleskine sketchbook definitely was not the ideal paper I was looking for
    • In February 2014, moleskin "rearranged" their collection: It used to be that ALL MOLESKINS had "sketch" quality paper (81lb/100gm), but this February, they started making their "regular NOTEBOOKS" with flimsier 47lb/70gm paper and only their "NEW," SPECIAL "ART PLUS SKETCHBOOKS" have the same sketch quality paper (81lb/100gm) that all their books used to have
    • I am really enjoying the paper
    • I have purchased many journals but i found that the paper on this one is a great delight to write on
    • it's so good for pen & ink?Very smooth and thick paper
    • The size of the Moleskine sketchbook is fine and the book opens fairly flat, but the paper is unusable
    • As always, nice quality and paper from Moleskine.
    • The pages are made of a nice paper, though I'd prefer a bit more tooth
    • Pros: Good quality paper
    • While the construction and design of the sketchbook are superb, the paper was not quite satisfactory, especially for ink wash
    • The paper is smooth and doesn't smudge
    • i work with copics, pencil, and so on, and i like the sketch paper a
    • I do a lot of pencil sketches and this paper holds up perfectly fine to extensive pencil and eraser use
    • paper is thinner than expected, expensive
    • The paper takes well to various dry mediums and thicker paints
    • Excellent quality paper
    • The paper was so smooth and thick that I could draw on both sides, and it would turn out perfectly when scanned
    • If you are looking for the good, old-fashioned thick-paper Moleskin you are used to, you MUST buy a
    • Awesome paper, perfect size for me, wonderful binding and, of course, a fantastic exterior.
    • The ink that I use bleeds through regular paper, but not the paper in this!
    • The paper is thick and the pages lay flat when you are working on a certain page.
    • Most of my finished drawings are done on half-sheet hot-pressed Arches watercolor paper, but the A3 Moleskin has excellent paper that takes erasure well
    • So the weight of this book's paper is perfect.
    • The paper is nice and heavy, but not too heavy
    • Very well made, very sturdy, the paper is great and the delivery to Australia was super fast!
    • It's light, thin, has enough paper, and the pages lay almost perfectly flat
    • The outer cover seems durable and has the elastic closure, pocket enclosure in the back & bookmark found in other Moleskine products; but it's the paper thickness and quality in this Art Plus Sketchbook that I really like
    • The paper feels very sturdy, and I haven’t noticed any smudging
    • Paper is a little hard to work with when using
    • It says 80 pages of top quality heavy acid free paper with expandable inner pocket.
    • The paper is so soft and thick, I haven’t had a problem with ghosting
    • The hardback means that I can write in it wherever I go, the pocket in the back are great for loose leaf papers, the paper quality is outstanding, and the table of contents lets me organize all my sections
    • It's relatively smooth paper (again, not great for watercolor and you can easily start scrubbing off the first layer of the paper with anything heavier than a light wash) and it sucks to erase on
    • I don't sketch in mine, I write, but I purchase the sketchbook because I like its paper better than that of the Moleskine journals/
    • Such amazing quality, and smooth paper that absorbs everything you put on it with buckling
    • The paper is yellow, like a "butter" color
    • Lays flat, great paper
    • I highly suggest this if you're doing field studies, life studies, full-sized drawings, etc. as it's got some of the best quality paper ever and has the sturdiest binding I've ever experienced
    • I love the smooth paper; pencil, ink, and
    • While my sketchbook did have thicker pages (and not that dreadful almost-tracing-paper consistency that I'd been finding in stores) they were not the same as from my old sketchbook
    • Nice heavy paper
    • The elastic is very nice to have as well to keep loose papers etc
    • The paper is strange to me, it seems a little bit waxier than what I'm use to with other sketchbooks and it doesn't really have a lot of tooth (which may lend to the waxiness); I've noted that this paper is less prone to smearing across blank pages.
    • Good quality paper.
    • I like the idea behind this book and the paper is pretty good but not as good as the Stillman & Birn Zeta Series Hardbound Premium
    • The fact that I can close it tightly with the elastic is really nice, because then the paper doesn't move around as much and smudge everywhere.
    • The paper is really smooth and tinted perfectly, and I plan to buy plenty more!
    • I loved this sketchbook, the paper is the perfect thickness and it's a lightweight book, which is great because my purse always seems to be gaining weight
    • The cover is solid and the thick yellowish paper is incredible to write on
    • I love the paper in this notebook
    • I love the toned paper, it gives a very nice contrast to my drawings, and the quality is irreproachable
    • The paper is smooth and thick
    • Other reviews had me worried that Moleskine had made their paper thinner or cheaper but it seems the same quality as it has always been to me
    • I like the thicker paper in the sketchbok because it cuts down on ink bleeding through to the reverse
    • The paper is awesome as any other moleskine sketchbook
    • The binding is great and sturdy, and the paper is perfect for both drawing and writing.
    • The paper is quite heavy, but it does not work with alcohol based markers
    • Very well made, great paper and even a little pocket for memorabilia
    • The paper bleeds through on thicker markers like sharpies and prismacolors, but for light ink work and pencil it's fantastic
    • Thick enough paper holds up pen and watercolors (to a point).
    • I suspect that a cheaper paper is now being used and that the Yellow colour has been overprinted, hence the 'resist' reaction of my colour washes AND the fact that some reviewers have found white marks after using an eraser on the page surface
    • I have found my new love!I was desperate to find a good paper for my Micron pens, and finally found
    • Well made, paper feels great
    • Paper has very little tooth to it, pretty smooth
    • Great quality paper.
    • The paper is good
    • My only complaint is that erasing whitens the paper since the paper is originally tinted yellowish.
    • The paper is thinner and rougher, almost like a bulkier cahier
    • moleskines have high quality, thick paper... perfect for using ink
    • great paper quality and compact size
    • The paper is very smooth and great for color pencil
    • The paper is wonderful for sketching
    • The paper is stiff, but silky
    • Good quality paper, resistant to light and medium weight pens, light yellow toned, accordion style pocket in back allows for various paper storage, decent sizeThe smaller books have denser
    • Whatever happened to nice white paper with just enough thickness to make both sides usable?
    • I do a bit of light watercoloring on this sketchbook and I'm pleased that it doesn't wrinkle the paper upon getting wet
    • The paper is very durable and it is easy to draw in because there is no awkward binding that curves the pages
    • The first I figured had to be a bad batch due to how bad the paper warped.
    • The paper in this Moleskine is a lot like some of my older ones - it's thicker and much more sturdy
    • The paper is beautiful
    • Super high quality paper and binding
    • The paper is super smooth and is a little heavier weight, like Bristol paper
    • Arrived in time, and the papers are a nice tinted color, copics do bleed, watercolors do warp pages, but it can hold up
    • (think nice index cards), ink doesn't smear that easily, erasers won't rip paper-can hold some watercolor, probably not the whole page-very good size for on the go, probably good for just bringing it out most times of the day when you feel like drawing-binding looks pretty good, won't fall apart
    • The paper you get is slick and great for any Bic Pen drawing and faber castell markers (due to they don't bleed
    • The paper is a perfect off-white color and thick enough that my ink pens haven’t bled through (they have in other books I’ve purchased)
    • The paper is perfect for sketching and my linework looks so smooth
    • Brilliant paper quality
    • I like the thicker paper in the sketchbok because it cuts down on ink bleeding through to the reverse
    • I always take a journal on any kind of trip and wanted heavy enough paper so that I could both write and draw and maybe use a watercolor pencil.
    • My main point of contention: the paper is absolutely horrible!
    • Pretty much every aspect that supposedly makes these sketchbooks great - e.g. the pocket, elastic closure, lay flat binding, durable cover, acid free paper, etc
    • Paper is thick and smooth for may different media on the go
    • The paper is slightly thinner than printer paper but generally doesn't bleed through if you don't use a sharpie or something
    • once again they have glued the seems of the paper (near the binding) so it rips my paper when I turn pages
    • Good quality paper
    • Forget about scratching with pen and ink, you'll reveal the white pulp almost instantly! The paper is also slightly too heavy, it does resist bleed through so you can use both sides of the page, but its like thin note-cards
    • The paper is great; nice weight and responds very well to Prismacolor pencils
    • Recommended A+
    • Definitely my favorite brand of sketchbook, just as good as always!
    • It bleeds, dents, frays, and rips as if it were designed to do that
    • Good as always...
    • I use it most often to sketching out fully pages of gestures and studies, as well as for a few finished pieces, although I typically prefer to work smaller
    • I hear people call it Mole Skin, but that completely disregards the "E" at the end
