It is not a perfect sketchbook for watercolor, as you get an interesting texture with the paint beads up on the rather un-absorbent surface of the paper, but since I mainly draw in pencil (HB or heavier, and prismacolor pencils work really well in this) that hasn't been a problem at all.

This is a nice, sturdy sketchbook- the pages are bound in a manner in which they won't fall out if you crack the spine intensely (I always get frustrated if the paper can't lie flat)

Paper is heavy enough that the ink does not bleed through (even with 0.7mm gel pen ink), but it's not too heavy - so the sketchbook is convenient to carry around.
