12-gauge is overkill for my 50 watt system, but I decided to splurge.

I don't have a way to measure if the gauge is accurate, but the copper is thick and is a much larger than my 14AWG, so it works for me.

this wire is an accurate 12 gauge, does not come apart when stripping the wire, and sounds phenomenal

You should always do all the calculations power and length to get the right gauge.

A good low gauge wire will work just as well (remember there are many feet of probably not so special wire wound around inductors in your speakers, so the 10' from the AMP to speaker isn't going to change much).

It is a good gauge, easy to work with, and it separates easily when you need to connect it to the speakers.

I would suggest that those who happen to receive the wrong gauge should simply close the box, print up the label for free UPS return, and send it back

It was easy to strip using the 14 gauge setting on my strippers, telling me the sizing was correct (16 gauge stranded is equivalent in diameter to 14 gauge solid for stripping purposes.)
