What began as an immensely popular arcade fighter back in the early 90s, has slowly devolved into a mediocre fighting game that always felt "rushed" and never felt complete

Pros: Solid fighting, nice graphics, and plenty of content

It is long (about 6 full hours if you win every fight on the first attempt) and the voice acting is good for what it is.

Some fights in this mode seem unnecessary to me... but that is my personal opinion

The story mode has a better fighting system than the arcade mode which is even more stagnant than the story battles

The fighting is fierce and the fatalities are nice and gruesome

Once the games started doing a more roleplaying kind of thing and less pure out fighting, like Mythologies and Shaolin Monks, I did lose a little interest but still kept up with the series as best I could

Very fun and enjoyable fighting game.

Overall it's a great fighting game, with a lot of characters to choose from and unlock, a very nice (much better than other recent fighting games) story mode, a challenge tower mode, and a superb multiplayer feature.

I really like the animation going on in the background, like the animated fighting going on in the background in The Pit, the debris flying around and the subways driving by in The Subway, the bodies being lowered into the acid pit, the guys being hung in the Living Forest, etc.

I liked MK I & III, but MK II was still my favorite.
