Unfortunately this walkie talkie struggles to work for any distance greater than 1 to 2 city blocks despite the marketing.

Useful distance is under 1 mile in urban areas

Since that is rarely true, then you probably should cut the distance in half for it working properly

CB radios can operate at much greater distances and transmit using significantly more power (around 4 Watts)

I plan to use them for car rides where we have to take 2 cars to fit everyone, as well as when my kids go to their grandmothers in town so they can still talk to us without having to use the phone
