Obviously 1 mile compared to a boasting of 23 miles is nothing but those who are wondering how well a radio will work at the altitude of 8.7k-10.7k feet, amongst a range of 1 mile with a lot of trees to interfere, It works perfectly fine.

Got it for our family camping trip and it worked just as far as it said it would.

Since they were not purchased with the intention of using them a a distance greater than a mile or two this is not a problem.

tech recommended resetting them, by pulling out the battery and letting them sit for over an hour... as silly as that was, it worked and the units haven't had an issues since!i've locked the buttons so my kids don't accidentally mess around with the units.

Not recommended as it was a complete waste of money from the start.

They hold charges for a couple hours, clip on clothes easily and work as far as we need them (a few blocks radius).
